Awsome potential confirmation of the six 'basic' and three specilazation trees.

Six basic trees top two levels and specilization bottom level.
I remember a dev somewhere said you start off with the basic spell in every tree and specilty points unlock the basic spell of one specialty tree (also hinted at by the picture - all top six basic spell unlocked, bottom three all locked).

Not sure how to feel about it, but while everyone is focused on what the spell/ability is, I'm more occupied with just the exceptional nature of the screen shot and gameplay moment. The cavern setting thier in looks incredible, and I must admit I continue to be a bit Nerd-Bedazzled by the attack and combat stance of Mage Hawke. Though it's my intention to play a Male character, I'm sure the poses and combat animations will look just as action-based.

The centre web has icons including a glowing brain, a shield with a symbol on it (arcane shield?), sparkly crossed swords, something that looks like crushing prison, etc. I think the centre web is arcane this time around, with some shuffling of items that used to be in spirit being moved to arcane.

This is a wonderful find! I love the screenshots and the info was fun to read. I'm really excited to be playing a mage now that I saw the talent trees. "Force Mage" for a specialization eh? Hmmmm, that makes me think of Obi-wan Hawke. =D

Thanks, i fixed my trees (i remember a dev sometime (months ago) about an arcane tree so im callin left middle row that.

That sounds like a good assessment. Overall, the new system looks awesome, I think.

I just have one gripe about it; there seems to be very few points in total to spend, which concerns me because it might mean we'll wind wind up having every talent/spell by the endgame, which would make the choice of which talents/spells to pick redundant in the long run. Of course, the level cap might be lower to counter this, or you may not receive talent/spell points every time you level up, who knows?

Hmm...Now *that* is an interesting thought. I mean, truth be told, I hope you're wrong. In DAO I worked hard to get as Leveled as I could, and I reached the *Technical* Cap along with using every book in game to aquire talents. By the end of the game I had damn near every important talent and was, for the most part, untouchable. I liked that, quite a bit. Could be they intend for us not to be able to reap those kinds of benefits again in favour of relying more heavily on your party make up...

That is a nice notion... using our companions, tactically. I like the idea of shouting orders, using the AI and program their default actions (customizing my team's behavior base on encounters). So, if this is the case, I am for that idea, for that is playing strategically or tactically.  *Yummy fun, indeed.

The game (DA II) is in the polishing stage as John Epler reminded us on several occasions: "final details are added last."

So, the best is yet to come.

Dev's in the past confirmed ~10 talent points per tree, and we only see 5-6ish spells, so my guess is upgrades arent visible (need to mouse over the spell to see em maybe).

Well, as far as I can tell by what information has been revealed, it's not so much that there are *fewer* spells, it's simply that the more redundant spells/abilities were removed for the sake of streamlining the trees so players could build a much more focused or even varied character. It can *seem* like things are less then DAO, but's that simply because there were quite a few required spells/abilities to reach the one you really wanted, spells/abilities most folks never even used.

She looks gorgeous though. The preview is a fantastic read. I was excited the other day after watching the video. I got even more excited earlier when I read about the free stuff and now i'm surprised I haven't exploded i'm that excited.
