Did the Overlord DLC move you/impress you as much as it did me?

Overlord had moments of greatness but the combat in the HH was terrible. Really poor. Also that brief puzzle with the moving bridges or whatever came out of nowhere and wasn't exactly well implemented.

I thought it was well written and about as strong as a mindscrew you can get in Mass Effect. I like the things that have a strong psychological impact.

It's fun, true, but I don't think it's the best DLC. The music is nice, the scenery is impressive but it's really just more standard enemies (geth and mechs; LotSB pits Shepard against a vanguard and boss with a riot shield), silly tank platform hopping and a rather weak link to the rest of the (barely existent) ME2 plot.

In addition to that I find Overlord just too disturbing. Insanity is an occupational hazard for mathematicians but I'd prefer natural causes to mad science experiments.

I found it depressing that the end-game choice really amounted to 'Keep the poor boy in, or take him out in the knowledge that Cerberus will just try to do the same thing to plenty of other autistic kids until they finally find someone else compatible.'

There's a lot more bodies going to suffer. Does anyone really think that Cerberus would quit in the face of difficulty when David proved what was possible? Even the post-mission TIM email doesn't give any sign that they were shutting down the project, only that you set them back by decades. And who wants to guess what those decades will include and be filled with?

As did I. I ended up going with the Renegade option as I felt the project was far too important to just shut down, but the fact that I didn't think Cerberus would give up was a motivating factor for going with the Renegade option as well.

Though, if you sold Legion, no need to worry about that. In Lair, the Legion dossier mentions that Cerberus was able to create some kind of device from Project Overlord and are trying to install it into Legion.

Hah, I didnt know that, Im willing to bet that means that in ME3 if you sold legion he comes back anyway as a squad member with VI instead of just scrapping him altogether.

It would be a plausible way for the, to force Legion on you either way.

Since this has been moved to the Spoilers Allowed section, I have to say that I, personally, liked the revelation that Shepard can be hacked, and am expecting something along the same lines in Mass Effect 3.

The speculation abounds as to what it actually means though. Cuz in the Overlord dlc yeah we get hacked, but it only allows us to see through the eyes of the VI, we still retain our own free will evidenced by the fact that we're killing the VI and its minions.

If they do 'hack' shepard in ME3 I hope they do it well and not make it cheesy or lame.

Personally, I took it as meaning that they intend to use Legion as the "god" that can direct the Geth. If that is the case, I am strongly doubting that Cerberus would allow him to be a team mate as he would give them the ability to fully control the geth. By that point he would be far too valuable to be sticking out on the front lines.

Overlord was more of a suprise for me. I didn't expect it to be so goddamn good. I enjoyed the music, storyline and... yeah definately the music. Heavy hitting tunes are great and it worked well with the DLC. The final act that BioWare pulled was pretty gut-wrenching and really interesting... and powerful I guess. Made me want to smash the doc's face in.

It was brilliant, but SB was just as damn good and topped the scales even further ^^. So yus, Overlord was quite frankly brilliant. I'm guessing BioWare is learning a lot and you can see the great changes they are putting into their DLC.

bigger than shadow broker thats for sure. Although the shadow broker has an awesome specter to specter battle and a nice car chase... thats pretty much it. overlord for me is the best.. Basically because lot of scenery and story for a very reasonable price.

I could see some of Sheps implants being reaper parts causing some level of indoctrination, or even direct reaper control, and that they need to be removed as a way to take Sheps powers/talents back to zero in the beginning of ME3.

nah I don't think theyll do that, I think part of the whole lvl 30 cap was so that in ME3 they let us import a character and level him up to 60. Hopefully that means more skills and talents, and maybe some ACTUAL skills for the soldier.

But I dont think theyll pull another "delevelling" illusion on us.

That would definitely be interesting, I'd personally welcome that kind of approach. But that would also mean that total newcomers would start at lvl 30 too or those of us who played ME2 will stop levelling up somewhere halfway through the game.

Loved it and Renegades who are able to stomach the Renegade finish should be well rewarded in ME3 in my humble paragade opinion.

Yeah that is also a very interesting side to the whole story. I'm assuming that if Bioware made such a gut-wrenching story development, and made it so hard to actually go renegade that in ME3 you get some very interesting consequence if you went renegade.

LOL I did it twice, and I STILL can't do renegade....I'm gonna have to do a full renegade run and just grit my teeth to get through it.

*clicks renegade choice*

You have to remember is all the other kids you'll likely condemn to the same fate if you take David away.

It should take quite a few months for them to rebuild the project and get it running, by then I hope we can leave bullet in TIM's brain.

Well, you failed. A year later and Cerberus is still around, TIM's still in charge, and the Turians and Alliance have used all their leads in a (failed) attempt to take it down.

See I am confused where Overlord falls into the timeline. How close it to retribution? Also, is retribution mid year or begginning of 2186?

Overlord is a during-ME2 DLC mission. It wasn't a 'bridging' DLC which could/was intended to be played after the Suicide Mission (like LotSB).

Retribution is about a year after ME2, which puts it about a year and an indeterminate amount of time after Overlord.
