$10 is the price of lunch at Taco Bell. Is it really a dealbreaker for you?

That is the regular launch price. It is not the first PC game to have the $60 price tag.

Oh stop whining, us console users have to pay 60 dollars normally for any new game. Our "special editions" are usually in the 70-80 dollar range.

Negative.

Most highly anticipated AAA title games (whatever you want to call them) that are coming out on the PC are matching console prices to $60. Activision-Blizzard, EA, and Ubisoft are all doing it.

A few companies decided to try releasing PC games at $59.99 to test the waters (Call of Duty: Black Ops, ETC) and people bought it, so now PC games are $59.99.

Or it could be inflation I have noticed the price of quite a few items going up In the new year.

And $50 is the standard price for a PC game. Hell yeah it's a deal breaker.

It starts with $10, then it goes to mantadory internet connection required due to some ****ty DRM, and then the price goes up and up. There is a reason boundaries are set--- because once crossed there is no longer a given end. Please stop being a blind fanboy.

The last six months has seen a trend in PC prices going up to the $60 mark. I don't know why, but I'm quite resistant to it. I still haven't bought Starcraft II because of it. Bioware is doing the same with ME3. Because it's Bioware, I'm willing to pay it (but I don't like it). Not so much with other developers.

Sucks to be you. PC games are hella cheap in the UK. DA2 is only £25 on amazon.co.uk and with a voucher all I'm paying is £10!

Don't know about you Americans, but I pre-ordered it for €37, which is about $48. So, standard EA prices in Europe (for now ).

Yes, there's this thing called "inflation;" it tends to make things more expensive.

That's generally because there are lisencing costs associated with developing games for consoles.

No, $50 is not the standard price for a PC game. Not anymore. We're right in the middle of a change.

Once upon a time, I'm sure someone somewhere freaked out about the injustice of $50 price tags on PC games.

This is the world we live in. Everything gets more expensive over time.

I also pre-ordered it for $50 bucks. Price must have gone up.

There's a "standard price" for things?

Well, how did it get to be the "standard price"?  Oh, because it's what most people charge?  How did it get that way?  Oh, because someone charged that much and others followed suit?

If the price is too high for some people, that's too bad - and I don't mean that sarcastically, I mean it sincerely.  I hate being priced out of things because I can't afford them.  But let's not claim that some rule or law is being broken or some right trampled on because of it.

Buying directly through Steam is almost always a waste of money unless it is a special sale. I preordered my DA2 SE for around 44€ from Direct2Drive, pretty reasonable price when you consider all the extras.

Down here we pay 100+ for games on the PC usually. Doesn't bother me even slightly since I'm happy enough to pay for quality games.

Hardly going to grumble and complain about $10; that's the price of what, a couple of coffees? When it gets to a point of PC games costing 130+ for a regular edition (for games I actually want to play) then it's a different story - thankfully it's not there yet.

In short, small price rise = no biggie. If you don't want to pay the $10 difference then don't, but there's no need to get all angry and work yourself up over it.

And then you have companies like Capcom that release highly anticipated PC titles are great prices (Dead Rising 2 $40).

I think you're mistaking inflation with greed. Check the inflation rate of the past few years in the US and you'll see there hasn't been a significant change in the last 10 years. If anything it WENT DOWN in '09.

Even with inflation accounted for, there is no way that there could be a $10 dollar rise in less than an year.

Most new PC games are still priced at about $50. I can only think of a handful of games that have been released at $60 (thank you Activision, EA, and Ubisoft).

If you feel the price is excessive, don't buy the game. Stand by your convictions and boycott!

Good luck with that!
