Even with inflation accounted for, there is no way that there could be a $10 dollar rise in less than an year.

People have been paying $60 for games on consoles for years now, it was only a matter of time before the PC caught up with the rest of the market. Add that with the poor economy, and it actually makes sense why the price has gone up.

$10 is the price of lunch at Taco Bell. Is it really a dealbreaker for you?

I think the real issue here is that DSerpa spends $10 at Taco Bell. Damn...that's alot of tacos. Seriously, I can eat alot and I would be about ready to explode if I ate ten tacos. Image IPB

If you feel the price is excessive, don't buy the game. Stand by your convictions and boycott!
Good luck with that!

Steam sales ftw.

Valve is really the only company out there (along with Capcom [sometimes...]) that are being genuinely fair. With the rise in price and all the content taken out and sold as DLC, you end up paying $80-100 for a video game. That is absolutely crazy.

The economy is doing bad so charge people (who clearly have no money) more for a game? Makes perfect sense. Oh wait.

I'm not really fond of the trend, but, the game still costs approximately a ****ton to produce, irrespective of the preferred platform of the consumer. The medium of distributing the content, DVD9, Blu-Ray, digital download... it's minuscule in comparison to the price tag of development, marketing, et cetera.

The only justification for $50 PC games is tradition.

It does, considering games require both time and money to make.

Edit:

Games are considered a luxary commodity, in the fact that they are not neccessary to have for your survival. Luxary as it turns out, costs money.

$10 less per person. When the game hits a million sales, that price difference starts to look a little more significant.

Hmm. Sounds eerily similar to a thread talking about Mass Effect 3. Must be a coincidence.

And $50 is the standard price for a PC game.

It still is.  In 2005 dollars.

You're measuring something using a volatile unit (US dollars) and you're surprised when your measurements change along with the size of your unit.

BioWare is a company that has a product that it has invested lots of moeny into creating. The last thing they are concerned about is whether $10.00 makes a differance in your bank account. Considering people have been willing to pay $60 for Tripple "A" PC game titles for a while now, it only makes sense that BioWare would follow suite.

A for-profit organization looking to make a proffit? Imagine that.

Considering I bought the Signature Edition for the equivalent of around $40 (£24.93), yeah, that's expensive.
(Though oddly, the regular edition now costs more than the Signature edition did).

Having said that, the price is the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

In my country they convert the prices as 1 euro = 1 dollar. We are paying 80 dollars.

Sigh.

You didn't make a profit of $60, you saved $60 - big differance.

Adjust for inflation.

In the mid '80s new games cost almost $200 in today's money.  So prices have actually fallen quite a bit.

The economy is doing bad so charge people (who clearly have no money) more for a game?

The money supply has been greatly inflated, thus reducing the value of a dollar.  Therefore, it takes more of them to buy anything.

People on the PC have to pay more, because they get to see a higher quality of Varric's chest hair.
