people who come here to the dragon age 2 forums to whine about a game they  are heavily looking forward to will buy this game when it comes out.  They like to say they wont because they think they will some how make Bioware feel bad for offering a signature edition for months at no extra cost.

If these people were unable to hide using the anonymity of the Internet I doubt most would be complaining.

If people want to play the game now they will buy it, all current DLC is being offered as a free incentive to that.  Yes they can wait about a year or so but in the end that is still a form of financial capital.

Humans are notoriously impatient beings. They say they're going to wait, but most will break eventually.

Not according to this poll

Of course it's incomplete and doesn't have a large spread of voters, but there you go.

Well I am waiting for a "Ultimate" version of ME2 that has all the DLC before I buy it, but they still haven't lost a sale that way have they? I'm still going to buy it.

Some will wait. Others won't. And still tthers won't even know DLC exists. Such is the great balancing act of business models. Apparently the DLC models work well enough that many publishers/developers utilize it in one form or another.

I'm one lost "day1" sale, but in all honesty, I doubt I, or anyone else who has the same stance as I do really matter to EA. There will be so many sales regardless, that the small group of people who are unhappy at the situation don't really matter.

My sale is almost assuredly lost until there's an "ultimate edition" or some such. ... er, I mean, why wait! DA][ will be stupendous!

They lost my sale ages ago, but I was kinda curious after the last Gamespot preview and lost interest again with this news of DLC being released as bait to get people to buy the game.

No, Bioware. Tricks are for kids!

As the writer of that poll I'll just pre-emptively point out that the people likely to vote on the poll are almost assuredly more hardcore fans of the DA franchise and more likely to purchase the game regardless of all other factors.

Also yes there could be up to 20 options but I feel that more options can serve to obscure more than illuminate, but that's personal preference.

You could say that about everyone who frequents these message boards however.

Bait? Tricks? How can something be either when we know what we're getting and what we're paying?

I can only speak for myself. I consider myself a fan of Bioware and I'm proud to support a Canadian company, but I'm either a very delayed sale or lost sale.

I planned to wait for the semester to end before buying the game, which meant I had to pass up on the SE. However, now that the SE offer is gone, there is no longer any incentive to pre-order or purchase the game near release. Bonus equipment does not appeal to me.

I don't approve the way the DLC is being handled compared to Origins, and this has caused me to step back and re-evaluate where on my priority list this game is going (MUCH lower).

Who even spends enough time in a bioware forum to complain about a game they say they won't buy...

The Stone Prisoner DLC was given as a freebie to new purchasers of the game because BioWare wanted to apologise to the playerbase for having the game being delayed by several months. It was originaly intended to be the first major purchasable DLC, but the delay changed that.

I don't see the problem with incentives, really.

Because you don't? You ordered 3 months before the product is out.

You could call it a "trick," if you were a wholly irrational person.

These are "buy it new instead of used incentives."

That puts a new light on things, but I still feel like the bare bone game is an incomplete version. The DLC isn't just an additional adventure campaign, it's something that is integrated with the full game.

I like bioware games. I have liked all their games.

I have trust in them, they always deliver a quality game.

Is it that difficult to go into a gamestop and put like 5$ down for the preorder and pay the rest off later?

Honestly if it was any other company i would never even bother no matter how hyped it was, but bioware has always made high quality games that i always really enjoy i'd end up getting it sooner or later might as well get it sooner rather then later.

Well, if you really feel that way you could always wait untill the price for the game goes down, then fork out the extra $7 for the DLC.

If you ordered 3 months out you ordered the SE and you knew you were getting extra stuff anyway. This is just a bonus.

Yes, they'll lose sales because of DLC. A few. Then over a million people will buy the DLC and they won't feel so bad.

There's a reason it's becoming an industry standard: it makes money.
