But it's a different product with Sebastian in it, right?

To me no, not really. It's still Dragon Age 2, just with another companion in it. It's kind of like buying one of the main Lego sets, you've got pretty much everything though there's still a few other kits that are needed to make it totally complete. Sebastian doesn't make DA2 a new product, it just makes it complete.

stop calling people dumb it's not nice.

Nobody ever called anyone dumb. Are you talking about my "smartest man in the room" comment? That was me saying that you're not telling anyone anything they didn't already know. I never called you dumb.

So your comment on "Well.... you're still buying the game. Profit will still go to them. So.... good for you?" was what exactly? Did you misspell cause from this statement you DON'T understand what used sales mean. So are you still alright with the statement were I gave you useless information cause I thought you were not sure what used sale means. Also I love copy paste.

How did you think I was calling you dumb from that? I was merely stating my position. It's not like I thought you were too stupid to comprehend such an idea.

The fact that you can argue that they take something away from the game to make it DLC. As some else said before "ahhh i remembered a time when you bought a game and you got the full version."

I also remember a time where my games came on 5¼" discs.
It boils down to DLC is made with additional resources and additional manpower, it's either this extra team with it#s own budget, or no DLC (and no content) at all. Or so I'm told. Sounds reasonable to me, but of course, YMMV.

You can though. Finish the game then start thinking about or hell the writers can think about possible dlc. But programmers artist finish the game then work on dlc. People diverted to making dlc from the actual game.

They have their own separate team for DLC. Please research these things before making claims to try to support your argument.

Yeah, this is the typical misconception.

Everything EA's done since DA2 went into the planning stages has had some form of Day One DLC. It's not like Sebastian had ever been planned as part of the main release -- he was always going to be DLC, or he wasn't going to exist at all.

And if they introduce another DLC after Sebastian, does your copy of DA2 then become incomplete again?

I don't care about DLCs but I'm most likely to buy DA2 at reduced price. Thus it might be that "game of the year" type of solution from STEAM ;) is right choice for me.

please link me to source then?

lets look at valve for a sec they make a game they finish the game most of the team goes onto making another game or helping other teams finish game. Small part of the team like 4-6 people work on dlc. Here is them working on dlc three months after the game ships :)  about 1:50 in

Or you can do as they have done and have a separate DLC team which would involve the same budget and man hours. Its not taking away from the team on the main game.

Yep, afterall there are now pieces to my base which can be added so why would I view it as anything other then incomplete. That's just not as annoying since they're not asking me to spend the money on the same day I bought the base product. <_<

Now it doesn't mean I have anything compeling me to purchase every DLC and make my base complete, that's just how I view it. As I said to me DLC is just like those little lego kits, small and pricey little pieces meant to further complete the larger base product you initally bought. Do you need it, not really. But sometimes you may come across something you'd like and it'd be nice to add to the collection.

For a bit of reality-based contrast:

The Lost and Damned cost $15 and was an entire 10-15 hour storyline.

Witch Hunt cost $7 and was a sixty minute fetch quest that did not even advance the Morrigan storyline.

Let's hope Sebastien is closer to the former than the latter. If he adds $7 worth of content, he's worth $7. If he adds as much content as Shale, he should be included in all new (non-preowned) copies of the game, because he is already completed and would be a terrific incentive not to buy used. EA has expressed over and over that they hate the used game market. So give me a reason to buy a new copy.

I'm starting to wonder if all these apologists work in EA's mailroom or something, sheesh.

.... why would I lie about something like that? And just PM David Gaider and ask him.

BioWare is not Valve. Each company does things differently.

Apologist is such a blanket generalization. Yes, everyone who likes things you don't is clearly lying and they actually don't like it as well.

Hey, if you want to make an argument that Bio's DLCs aren't worth it, go ahead. I've never bought one myself. Edit: Including Sebastian. I didn't bother to preorder.

You know reading treads like this makes me angry, it's like people look for any reasons to complain about something. DLC is Optional....your game is not incomplete because they release DLC... heck they don't even force you to buy the DLC.

i'm a die hard fan of Bioware and even I didn't buy most of the DLC they offered because i wasn't interested. Your talking to someone who bought the collector edition for the X-box and the normal game for my pc and bought shale.

When that opinion is "Yes BioWare, please take my money for tiny addons to the game!" I can't help but wonder.

I'd rather pay for more (optional, btw) content than having nothing at all.

I'm with you on this one - BioWare's DLC, or better, the DA DLC (since LoTSB was quite enjoyable) was lackluster. But that's, imho, an entirely different discussion.

Shale was objectively the best character in Origins, of course you bought her. ;)

If Darkspawn Chronicles had been a 5 hour campaign, I'd have gladly paid $10 for it. It was something truly unique.

Don't you know? All opinions are rendered moot once they culminate in the partaking of a trend that other people don't like. Once that happens, your opinion automatically turns you into a sheep.

Come, graze with me, brother.

Actually preorder money is not refundable at most stores. Gamestop will not give you your money back, they'll only let you use it on a different game.

Just need to chime in and correct this. I know for a fact that this is not true. I cancelled my Cata preorder and got my 5 dollars in cash back.
