i'm just saying that those things aren't called baiting. Except maybe if you work in retail; I wouldn't know.
Sure they are, it's not thrown around a whole lot because as I said it sounds far more sinister then sale or free goodies but the principle is exactly that, creating an incentive for people to buy a product or visit a store they may not normally purchase or visit now or ever in order to increase revenue. BioWare (And every other developer out there) packaged in features that normally wouldn't be there and advertised those features in order to drive up the number of pre-orders which in turn will allow them to ship out a larger inital volume and generate more revenue. You may not like the term baiting, a lot of people don't, but it is.
Right. The word has sinister connotations; you and I should be using a better word since neither of us think that there's anything sinister going on here.

Nobody ever called anyone dumb. Are you talking about my "smartest man in the room" comment? That was me saying that you're not telling anyone anything they didn't already know. I never called you dumb.

Lot's of words have sinister connotations, doesn't necessarily the words always represent something sinister. Murder is a word that has sinister connotations, Mussolini and his girlfriend were murdered in cold blood but there aren't many people who view that particular act as bad or wrong. It all depends on the context and the situation. You can use whatever word you'd like, I was just pointing out that baiting is indeed a correct word to use here as well as a few others.

The way the Sebastien DLC is being handled has caused me to have no desire to purchase the game new.
I assure you that EA cares that I don't buy a new copy. They care very much. Even if I do buy the DLC.

So your comment on "Well.... you're still buying the game. Profit will still go to them. So.... good for you?" was what exactly? Did you misspell cause from this statement you DON'T understand what used sales mean. So are you still alright with the statement were I gave you useless information cause I thought you were not sure what used sale means. Also I love copy paste.

If you buy used, you'd be losing out on Sebastian (because you didn't preorder Signature Edition) and the Black Emporium. Let's assume Black Emporium is 15$ and you're down quite a bit on your "savings", no? So you'd be willing to lose money out of spite, support DLC and project ten dollar, and get a used copy of the game?
Maybe I'm a little crazy but that sounds foolish.

But if the Sebastian DLC had come with every new copy you would have bought a new copy?
Why? You'd still have the option to get a used copy and then buy Sebastian for $7.

I thought everyone knew that character dlc(quest and companion that joins you on an adventure) was better than items dlc.

Yet you'll support the DLC you supposedly hate. You do realise that the revenue from the sale of the DLC will be matched off against the expenditure budget of the DLC to assess how profitable it is.prazision wrote...

Well, the guys who execute Mussolini didn't call it murder. We should probably stop derailing, though, since we agree on the substance.
And BioWare doesn't call it baiting, see how that works.
But I agree, so I'll shut up now.

... and how does it matter? He loses out on DLC by buying used and buying it seperately, saying it's cheaper. That's not true when you bring in the Black Emporium, if he's not willing to buy it that's his choice but he's not saving money in comparison to the few extra dollars a newer copy would give.
He'd be spending more money to have the same content as a new copy.

If its such a matter of principle he shouldn't buy the game at all.

Because buying a new copy is called "voting with my wallet".
My issue is not that Sebastien is DLC. My issue is that he is Day One DLC.
I don't care about preorder/Day One DLC if it's just items that make the game easier (Warden's Keep) but an entire companion, in a game that so far has less announced companions than Origins, is a whole different kettle of fish.

You still haven't said why this is a problem. What is wrong with Day One DLC?

Aside from the annoying fact they want me to spend another $5-$10 on top of the $50-$60 I already spent on the same product on the same day, nothing I guess.

Still, it's not like you're paying extra for it. So you have to get online for five minutes to download a few things, not the end of the world.
