Mass Effect Credits Music - Should They Use a Song Not From the OST in the Third Game??

Mass Effect's ending credits' music was in retrospective a great choice of song; it made the player feel triumphant after finishing the game and was indeed an awesome tune to listen to.

Mass Effect 2's was just.. eh. Don't get we wrong here, the OST was comparable to that of say Halo's in terms of quality but I just imagined I was going to be presented with another song not from the games soundtrack and could top the "Faunts M4 - Part II" from the first.

Do you think Bioware should use a song from a third-party in the final instalment of the Mass Effect trilogy?

Sure, I'd like that. As long as it isn't something like Final Fantasy XIII and "My Hands".

Glad I'm not the only one. It felt more like a lead in to another mission, not really an sonic reward for stopping the collectors and getting one step closer to ending the threat of the reapers, a malevolent race of highly-intelligent machines bent on destructiooooooonnnn....man I want ME3 ._.

I'd like it if Faunts could do another lyriced song in the same vein as M4 part 2... But I'd really prefer not to hear Part 1, as many have suggested, because it feels like a shadow in comparison. I loved Part 2 because it's sung, and overall has a nice, clean contrast to the rest of the score...

I'd love for Faunts to return for this.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't like "M4 Part 2". Thought it was a pretty bland and uninteresting selection. I've always preferred a medley of track selections, like what John Williams did with the end credits of Star Wars or Jaws, for example.

I wouldn't mind lyrics being sung, but have the song fit into the soundtrack's theme, at least. M4 Part 2 didn't sound (to me) as it belonged in the ME aural universe, so to speak.

Yeah, well, I think M4, Part II goes down in history as one of (if not the) greatest end-game songs to compliment a game in its entirety: theme, relation to OST, epic-ness, etc.

The end-game credits for ME2 were nothing special, so that's why it probably felt so empty, as we were all expecting something on par with ME1 end-game credits.

I would love something on level with ME1 for ME3, which would mean selecting a song outside of the OST.

Edit: I was so impressed with M4, Part II when I first heard, it was the only one of a few times I sat through a video game's entire endgame credits where I wasn't forced to sit through them.

Ironic, I was listening to the Faunts (ME1's end theme) 2 hours ago. I hope they do end up doing something similar for ME3.

Every time I listen to M4, Pt. II, I can remember that first time I convinced Saren to become an hero, then saving the Council even though I was a renegade, fighting Sovereign's avatar, seeing that bastard get blown up by Joker, seeing that debris hit the Citadel Tower, thinking Shepard was dead, then seeing him limp out of the ruins with that smirk on his face, then hearing the turian councilor praise humanity's "fierce, savage spirit," letting Anderson give that epic speach about driving the Reapers back to dark space and finally stroding off to do save the galaxy...

So yes, I would like another epic end credits song of that magnitude.

Same. However several hours later I finished my neutral ending on ME1 and enjoyed it for what is just like the first experience.

id like the last song i hear in ME3 to be the simple little ME theme riff "dun-dun dun-dun dun-dun dun-dun" i want a song that embeleshes everything mass effect. i really dont want a song by moby or a weird techno mix. im not a big fan of the faunts song in the end of ME1. it felt out of place to me.

Actually, maybe there should be a different type of song depending on the ending... Like if the galaxy is saved, but Shepard dies they could have something similar to this:

I think when they release the final dlc they should alter the credits sequence so there is a second song or three so the dlc half of the credits aren't just blankspace.

I'm another one who loved the M4 PT2 credits of ME1... And, really, it DID absolutely fit the sound and theme of the game. The way they blended it from the last shot of the Normandy disappearing over the red planet to the first line of the credits was just a superb way to end the game...

It sounds like the majority of players loved it, while the rest thought it was bland or didn't really fit the tone of the game overall... Eh, not really sure how to respond to those people. Personally, I don't fond it hard to

In there was an upbeat somewhere in there which added to the heroic effect then it would be a great suggestion.
I see what you mean too, but maybe it just depends on the ending (possibly different music for different endings?)

Yes, ME3 need special song, as was the M4 part 2 for ME1.
But I would not want to re-hear the M4 part2 in credits ME3, need something new in the same spirit.

I think it would be awesome if they played "Drop the World" by Little Wayne if you completed the game with 100% renegade.

The background music fits and I can just see a Renegade Shepard picking up the world and dropping on the reapers' ****ing head.

It occurs to me that while M4 Part 2 was really cool, and had this sort of "knowing smile" quality about it, a similar song won't necessarily work for ME3... I know I've said the exact opposite before, but IF ME3's ending is pulled off in a way that takes your breath away and leaves you slumped in awe, then something really introspective might be a lot more suitable (for that kind of ending).

Introspective, but also something that has the epic space opera feel... I think if Bear McCreary's music for BSG made love with Clint Mansell's music for The Fountain, then that would be it. Wall of Sound, please add those to your inspiration map!

M4 pt 3?

Speaking of Faunts, I think their song 'Twenty-Three' would be a good song to end with, especially if your LI dies.

A different song for a death of character, a little too much don't you think?

Unless it's pulled off good I doubt they would incorporate it into the game.

Just use M4PTII again.

It'll bring back nostalgic memories of when the player first beat ME1.
