The new gameplay video just gave us confirmation on three spells.

On the Primal spell tree (Top Middle, Yellow Lightning Bolts)

The bottom left spell on the Primal Tree is Chain Lightning.
The bottom middle spell on the Primal Tree is Tempest.

The bottom spell of the spirit tree (white hand with purple aterisk) is Dispel Magic.

Posted ImagePosted ImageAnd I was right about Tempest!  I don't know why I'm so proud of that, but I am lol.

I wonder what the final primal spell is if its not chain lightning or tempest, surely not storm of the century?

Walking Bomb is the middle 1st spirit spell with a skull, I presume the final spirit spell is raise dead. And top middle after spirit bolt must be death syphon.

I believe the circles are passive, so it could mean that choosing it gives your spells more damage and makes them harder to resist, or something along those lines.

There was a new spell shown in the Games Trailer video

The lower left spell on the Force Mage specialization (Golden Plus Sign) is Telekinetic Burst which was cast in the centre of a group of enemies and beautifully knocked them all back on their butts.

Upgrades are hidden at this view, when you zoom into the school the upgrades are revealed. I think there was a screenshot of Isabela's tree at that level from one of the podcasts.

Squares are the root of each school or specialization, Diamonds are actives, Hexagons are modals and circles are passives.

Wait... what's a 'modal'? Which spell from Origins qualifies as a modal?

Root word being mode, thing slike Blood magic, Beserk (or whatever it was called), and miasma, would be "modals" I believe.

D'oooh! Of course! I dunno what I was thinking of.

*They were called sustainables in-game.
**Actualy, that makes more sense to me than modal, considering how they function.

Sorry, yes. Modal is the same as sustained.

There are abilities like Blood Magic and Dueling which are sustainables, but they also need to be activated to use other spells/talents. I guess this is why it's exclusive for specializations; and it makes sense, you enter a dueling posture and then use an ability specific to a duelist. I suppose these are actually the modals and the rest ,Rally, Threaten, whatnot are just sustainables?

Anyway, what I really want to know is if DA2 features similar abilities. Personally I think it would be a step back to remove them, especially for an ability like Berserk. Unless of course you cut the middle man, which on the other hand is not so bad (not bad at all, in fact), and now you have abilities like Final Blow that work without a parent sustainable, instead encompassing it. For example, the description of Final Blow would be something like 'Gather all the rage inside and release it in one powerful blow that uses up all your stamina...' or whatever.

On a side note, did you make Reaving Storm from Awakening a Berserker talent? It would make sense, plus it would be interesting to see that ability with a sword and shield.

This is great, hopefully this should help with the whole going through 40 spells in order to get to a particular spell.

Update for Force Mage: Fist of the Maker is the name of the spell on the (I think) top first row.

Do you guys think there will be any DLC specializations or secret specializations that we haven't heard of yet? Because having only 3 per class and being able to learn 2 seems like they aren't that special to me.
