No worries, RL threw me a curveball so I won't be working on the merge until later this afternoon anyways. *mutters* I have... 8 minutes of goofing off time left. *grins* Good luck on the clipping issues. Feel free to borrow my sledge hammer if you need it.

Sorry, TheSpiritedLass, I don't think there's any way I'm going to be done with the emoticons any time soon. The emitter VFX thingie itself is basically done but there are a lot of emoticons and getting all those cleaned up is going to take at least a week more, if I don't get distracted with something else or RL.

Again, no worries. We can always do an update to the vault post once you get the emotes finished in a week or so. I don't like doing that, but hey... RL happens. *sassy grin*

Wasn't Estelindis working on circlets? Would love to get those before the release if possible, since I'm trying to finish up my clothing hak atm.

Yes, Jenna, that's right.  Tried to post the link and the pic earlier, before I had to go off for aikido, but the computer fritzed. Really haven't been having luck with technology lately! Download :-) It is only a robe-circlet for the moment, sorry (so there are head-tracking issues with circlet-wearing NPCs watching passing PCs).  I didn't have time to convert them to VFX today, only to fix a bit more clipping for the various races. But I'll do the VFX as soon as possible (and maybe cloak too, plus plain circlets sans centre jewel).

Unfortunately, the circlets don't work well with every head.  There's just too much diversity of geometry between them.  But I have gotten them working with an acceptable number of heads per race to at least release something.

Ha! Nice try Este. I knew to have a drool towel on hand this time. For once you didn't catch me unprepared when showing us your new goodies. *grins*

Glad you like it, my dear. Thank you for the encouragement that helped to get the circlets out the door. :-) Now, for bed... ;-D

My hat is off to you my lady. *grand flourish of a pretty bonnet* The only artist to have turned in content for all 6 challenges so far. Impressive!

I just might wait for the vfx then. I need to add a system in that does horns with vfx anyhow. Good to see what it looks like though!

Hmm, I need to be more proactive about keeping up with these threads. A lot of very interesting and potentially useful stuff being developed here! I particularly like Este's "robe circlets," and can definitely think of a use for them. :)

FYI, Lass, porting head models to helm models unfortunately causes issues with skin, hair, etc not being inherited from the base model. I found this out a while back when I was trying to make a magical disguise mask that would change a character's appearance upon equipping it. Skin and hair have to be swapped to other layers (I tend to use the leathers), but unfortunately the non-skin-and-hair palettes just don't have the same range of suitable tones. It's a real pain and I wish it hadn't been implemented that way (it seems to be hardcoded, but I'd be delighted if someone told me otherwise).

*Nods* That was a CC request for Sanctum 3 that Este tried out for me, and as she says it turned out to be really problematic. The conclusion I took away from that experiment is that heads and helms in NWN really don't look and work the same, and that the best way to handle that sort of thing was to just change the appearance via scripting (which is what I ended up doing, as shown for example here).

Now im not personaly sure how its done (or if its complex or easy for that matter) but the CEP team has a Cavelier hat that you can use in there system thats a cloak, it makes it REALLY versitile because you can add both cloaks and a robe style at the same time...

I can testify to this, since the recent versions of Sanctum 1 & 2 make use of that approach and use all three as custom items. Near the end of Sanctum 2 I wanted to give the player a maximum amount of flexibility in tailoring their appearance while also giving them a special plot item called the Cloak of Flying. The original version of the cloak was a cloth armor with a cape, which looked fine by itself or in combination with the Cavalier Hat cloak. But it was a poor choice for armor wearers, and it looked awful in combination with other visible cloaks. The solution I came up with was a convertible cloak, with scripting that could toggle it between cloth armor with a cape and a non-visible cloak. The latter version, though, also had on equip/unequip scripting to add or remove a cape from whatever armor the player happened to be wearing to complete the look.

From my perspective as a module builder, the reason for the desirability of cloak headgear is that it can be easily combined with a character's existing appearance. So I'm excitied to see more of it, such as Este's cloak-based circlets. Since there are ways of getting the "cloak/cape" look via armor mods, you don't necessarily have to give that up to get cloak based headgear.

*whew* Been a busy RL week. I'll be working on finishing up the demo module for posting to the Vault. Any time line on when y'all will be done with the rest of your work Estelindis and OldTimeRadio? If y'all could get them done over the weekend I might as well wait to post the package to the Vault on Monday? Once the demo module is done it doesn't take too long to add in more content. Let me know. =)
Navarian, did you get my emailed questions??

I don't know if I'll be able to get the rest done by the end of the weekend. Life's been manic lately. But I'll see what I can manage. Will post on Monday to let you know the score. :-)

Okay, I've managed to get the circlets working as vfx for humans (in a choice of four different colours, as the textures for vfx need to be tga/dds rather than plt). To get them done for all races will take a bit longer, as the positioning for each one needs to be customised very carefully due to the circlets' close fit. Can't say for sure that they'll be done by the end of the day. Have a lot of research to get done today and I really need to start on it now, meaning I can only dedicate the time needed for the vfx this evening (though I might get one or two done here and there if/when I need rest breaks).

Round one of goodies is up on the Vault.

Round two next week? Este? OldTimeRadio? Navarian? I only want to have to do a single update.

Okay, now you are just trying to make me jealous! *sleepy laughs*

For use with the /head # command, I've loaded a 1.69 version of our visual head doc up to the vault. This won't help people who have hak or override based heads though.
Get your heads here.

Okay: sorry, but there's no way I'll have them done before going to London (I'm going to see Les Mis by the way!). I'll do my best once I get back. Hope you have a nice span of days until I talk to you again. :-)

How was the play, Este?

So round two... Este? OldTimeRadio? Navarian? How are things looking? On my end, RL just became very very messy. My computer time will be pretty limited for the next sevveral weeks at least. =( So I won't be able to do an update for a bit. I'm leaning towards doing it around when the March stuff should be posted. Does that work for y'all?

TSL, I doubt I'm going to get those emoticons done any time soon.  My time is either wide open or all booked up and I usually don't know a few hours in advance which one it's going to be.  And then, when the opportunity presents itself, I usually want to play with some new effect or idea.  Great for "experiments" but not so great for actually getting things out the door.

Heya OTR, sounds familiar. Did you want to send the one you already have completed or skip it entirely?

I'm gonna have to skip it, at least for now.  All it really is at this point is a blank emitter surface with some animation keys and a 2da edited for a single VFX and one icon I used for testing.

I need to teach my kids how to use GIMP so they can do grunt work like clean up graphics for me.  Papa has a problem getting too distracted by the "new shiny". :innocent:
