Why doing such a thing? You (Bioware) put a trailer and say "Ehy guys, this is a trailer for the PS3 version of the game"...well, why you toggle off the HUD? I consider myself not too intelligent, but neither a fool. Well stand by for an answer, if there'll be, of Chris or else.

in the trailer, gameplay scenes don't have HUD.
Is there a reason for that? Yes there is, of course.
They're taken from PC or 360 version (but presumibly PC) not PS3.
Very clever, like usual in the marketing.
PS3 version will not have that smooth framerate.
Imho.
My first instinct was to dismiss this as console war flamebait, since I was pretty sure it's standard for the HUD to be toggled off in the trailers. I went and took a look at other trailers to verify that I had that right and as it turns out:
1. The sequence with an YMIR getting Slammed is lifted straight from the Overlord trailer.
2. A clip showing a simultaneous Warp and Shadow Strike is taken from the Kasumi trailer.
So unless they've got some way to script specific gameplay sequences like that, down to exact camera angles, at least some of that stuff isn't PS3 gameplay. Also, a lot of the other gameplay footage is either from Lair, Kasumi, or Overlord, so it looks like they've possibly used clips recorded, but not used, for those DLC's respective trailers.
There are only a few brief segments that are probably PS3 clips, going by apparently brighter colors. Best guesses on those: a certain YMIR fight involving crates, a couple tiny bits from Haestrom, an overhead bridge shot, the Tali mask thing, and two ending snippets. Pretty much everything else is from the various pre-rendered cutscenes.
That said, an equally likely explanation is that using old clips simply saved them time.
Would also add that one of those pre-rendered cutscenes is played in reverse from how it actually is shown in game. It even stands out when you watch the trailer.

than we have the definitive proof of my doubts. If you're right (i'll check later) this is very sad, normal in the marketing, ma so sad every time.
EDIT; i've checked the 2 trailer, yes u're right, that scenes are taken from them. Strange uh?

I wish *I* could toggle off the HUD to get some decent Fraps footage. Anyway, was a neat little trailer, trying to convince my husband to get the PS3 version since he's always complaining about the lack of decent console games.
Uh, you can. Simple coalesced binding you add to the default mode (also works for vehicle mode):
Bindings=( Name="[Some Key]", Command="ShowHUD" )

Then again is it *really* worth it for what is essentially the exact same game albeit with a bit more extra content in a different format (the interactive comic), all DLCs included into one package and some (very nice looking) graphical polish from supposedly the ME3 engine?

That being said, I have a question... In Mass Effect 2, the choices we made in mass effect one changed certain things in the game (Wrex's fate is one major example).
How will they integrate certain aspects of the story without us having made the choices? Are they going to default to certain things?

This is great news. I have both systems, but when it comes to a single player game, PS3 is my first choice for gaming.

The interactive comic which I'm guessing you play through before you start ME2 proper when you start it on PS3 - the comic is intended to be the backstory for PS3 owners who only have the one ME game.

Truth be told, I loved the Mass Effect 1 experience, but after playing 2, i would dread to play the first one again.

Thank you, I've always owned a ps3 and I couldn't believe I never really knew much about the mass effect series until now. Now that I heard about the ps3 release and made some research, tried the demo on the psn and even went and got the first game and played it on the pc I've completely fallen in love with this amazing series and I will forever be a followerannihilator27 wrote...

Say goodbye to your life. Mass Effect will eat your soul. Y'know, in a good way.
Compared to the original launch trailer, this felt almost fanmade. Not knocking fanmade videos in ANY way but, it just seems a bit less polished and less connected. Maybe that's because this is second, but, nonetheless, the PS3 trailer doesn't get me as pumped as the first one does, even watching it now.

Still it's good news, exclusive titles are pointless, and only cause children to argue on youtube.
