Hi, I just installed NWN2 and ran it for the first time. Everything was going smooth until I left Daeghun's house. When I went outside, almost everything was black. Somethings would still have colour though. Light sources would show, things like torches, lanterns, If a spell was cast and produced light, it would show. What's even weirder is this only happens from certain angles. I spun my camera around my character and depending on the angle and distance the camera was from my character, the world would show up as if nothing was wrong with it.

My computer is sporting a GeForce 9800 GTX+ with the latest drivers installed (260.99). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

honest, some people just look at that information and go "uhmhm, uhmhm, alright, uhmhm, okay, uhuh, hm"

The description of your problem is fine, but don't forget your Dx version.

Same results with different detail/shadow settings, and in fullscreen and windowed?

@KevL
I'm running on Windows XP using DX9

@SkywingvL
Yes, when I run it in windowed mode and mess around with graphics settings, I still get the same results.

On Windows XP, make sure that you are running DX9.0c (re-distributable version).

For the 9800GTX+ video card, I am using the 258.96 drivers and have seen no reason to go beyond that version so far.

You should also be using .NET Frameworks 3.5

Here is a quick test you can try to eliminate your settings as the issue:

1. Rename the Neverwinter Nights 2 folder in 'My Documents' to something like NWN 2 Original.

2. Without making any changes to graphics settings, Start NWN 2 and p,ay out the conversation with Daegan, then go outside and see if the visual display is cleared up.

If there is no change, then I would suspect your driver version could be the problem (NVIDIA has had several issues with drivers regarding NWN 2 enough times in the past). Try rolling back to the version I am using (mentioned above). The version I am using is one that corrected problems created by a series of earlier versions that hadn't helped resolve the issues they had created at the time.

If none of that works, uninstall whatever version of DX 9 you are using and re-install DX 9, making sure that it is a relatively new version of DirectX 9.0c (Re-distributable). Also, make sure that you are using the native resolution for your monitor.

If you have AA (anti-alias) set above 4X, reduce it to 4X or lower.

As I was quoted earlier, it helps to post system information:

Im having the same problem, Some areas are fine but others are all Blue, black etc. I read somewhere that you should roll back your driver to a previous version, I havent tried that yet. Did the fixes listed in the other reply work for you?

The latest Nvidia drivers fix this.

I'm haveing something simular happen on my travel laptop. I had just the OG install ver and was playing fine. I finaly got a good connection here (out of country on a job) and got the ver updated to last. Well about the time i hit the graveyard/outlaw camp suddenly my screen looks like the PC's are walking on stars. This doesn't effect indoors though. If I start a new char it's fine again.

I'm useing a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M Graphics on my alienware 11" laptop (which should be way more than enough to run the game since it's better than my old desktop I play it on at home with no problems). I'm allso on Win 7 instead of Vista that my desktop is on. I hate haven't to restart new chars and haven't played blacked out long enough to see if it fix's it's self.

When I get home tonight I'll do a screen shot and post it.

Man that took forever to download the drivers being out of country for work right now with crappy internet at the hotel, but yah got the newer driver pack from NVIDIA and it seems to have worked so far. Now if I can ever get MoB downloaded for the laptop I'll be happy....lol the start of the OC is starting to get old after doing the first act several times in one week trying to work out a good build.

Okay fix the game issues when first instaleld, than the next day said I didn't have anything to run 3D. So I did a restore back before. Went to Alienware and downloaded there latest version of the grapic chard driver. Will install tonight and see if it works. Works fine onboard grapic card other than every thign in game lags a bit and isn't so sharp. I just hate switching my main grapic card on and off cause the detial is a big diffrence.

Oh and the update I used on of nvida's web sight didn't give me the option for my actual screen resolution I used, which ws odd. Well hopefully I'll have better luck tonight, that and MoB will be finish downloading tonight so it will be installed with the game. Being out of country realy is sucking on the internet speed for me righ tnow.

Except this isn't a NWN2 bug, it's a Nvidia driver bug. Seriously.
