hey i completed the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC before getting the information from Liara that leads you to the police officer that tells you where Samara is. If I go to the laptop in Liara's old office and select the information on Samara's location, it doesn't give me anything and i can't continue the mission. Suggestions?

Unfortunately its a known bug. You have to ask Liara about Thane and Samara before you starts the SB mission. You dont have to run off and get them first, just ask about them.
If you are familiar with its use, you might be able to use Gibbed's save game editor to trigger the flags to reveal them. Havent tested it myself, so I cant promise it will work. You will be able to trigger the flags to bring them into your crew, but you will miss out on their recruitment missions, and subsequent weapons and/or upgrades.
Otherwise, no option but to load from an earlier save.

I found a partial solution. I used Save Game Editor to set Shepard's Location in save file to that which corresponds with location of just started Recruit Samara mission. However since character just 'appeared' there, no cutscene was played and both volus trader guy and an asari cop are just standing there and I can't talk to them. I wonder if there's any way to tweak that as well.
I've created a question over at EA help. Didn't get a reply yet. They should totally fix this ASAP. I mean there's a 30 hours difference between my last savegame where Liara was still there and my current save. Curses!

Use Gibbed's save game editor and edit Location of your last save file to following:
Base Level Name: BIOP_TwrMwA
X: -13039
Y: -10020,7676
Z: 91,1500244
This positions you behind the two guards blocking the alley and allows you to continue to next cutscene. When it's over, you should be able to continue mission.
