I'm Commander Shepard, and The Rock's my favorite wrestler of all time.

I know, I know, it's lame and stupid but I couldn't resist.

Seriously though, while Johnson may be my favorite wrestler of all time, his Rock persona is utterly badass, and he's a decent action hero, there's no way in hell I'd pick him to be Shepard...

...Unless he had a cameo as Shepard in the Citadel advertisement! I'd laugh my skinny white ass off if I saw that.

Why do the krogans need to have an actor? They're better off as CGI and motion captured.

Oh come on The Rock was the only reason Doom was even halfway-watchable.

No I think the rock should play Jenkins because he seems to do pretty well in being killed off in the first 2 minutes -looks at Prime incarnation of Cliffjumper-

Ok, while I like your casting of Dwayne Johnson for Shepard, the rest of them.. not so much, especially since you have so many case of two people being the same actor...

Plus, Anderson totally should be Keith David, if it's not I'll be VERY disapponted.  I mean, not only is he already the voice actor in the game, but he is the same race and approx. age as the character too.

(A side note on terminology since this forum features a world with many non-human creatures , technically race is the proper term for various differences between a species, whereas species is the proper term for different aliens.  Human or Asari is a species, Caucasian or African is a race)

Anyone that thinks the movie should be about Shepard, should get in a car, drive up Know Your Role Boulevard, take a left onto Jabroni Drive and park themselves up in the Smackdown Hotel!

Great, now people are staring at me for laughing. Thanks a lot!

Your welcome :D

@Jebel Krong, sorry but I disagree with you 100% completely and think your statement is wrong on so many levels.

Firstly, whilst the current trio of stories are Shepard's Story, the Mass Effect franchise doesn't just revolve around Shepard. You also seem to forget that despite marketing of Sheploo, IIRC from the stats we've been shown so far, a lot more people tend to use custom Sheps, not only that but Female Sheps too. So having someone who could resemble Sheploo that has acting skills wouldn't be 'recognisable' as Shepard to a fair number of people because of this and would likely mean they won't go see the movie. Which would be a very bad move on Bioware/Film Producer/Directors part because the key audience first and foremost would be fans of the franchise.

As pointed out earlier, ME/ME2/ME3 is Shepard's Story and Bioware has already stated they plan on continuing AFTER that and that ME3 is the END of Shepard's Story thus therefore it would be silly for Mass Effect movie to have Shepard in it. Mentioned maybe but not in it. Has Shepard been in any of the books/comics (other than the upcoming interactive one), nope.

Basically put...
Shepard =/= Mass Effect Franchise

your last point is nonsensical - because the games end shep's story with #3, they can't do a movie featuring shepard?! how does one follow another? :pinched:

i never mentioned sheploo - but, given the stats over 80% play as a male shep, so it's more likely (and given brand recognition) they'd use a male actor - i mentioned no specific names, originally, but i'd rather a decent actor with presence/charisma and the ability to play the duality of the role (renegade/paragon). you completely ignore the fact that the audience for a film =/= audience for games. you can start with that, but the general person aware of mass effect 1/2 and has played the games is going to be one of those vast majority that played as male default soldier characters that dominate the stats. the only people that get their panties in a twist are the people like you, who are invested in a slightly different take on the universe because of the customisation afforded. the overriding concern for getting the film made will be the financial return - sad for an art form, but there it is - so the conservative choices rule: appeal to the majority, maximise the brand recognition (which is why 'sheploo' - and i hate that term - was created in the first place) - do the familiar story, but shape it to fit a feature film.

Chris O'Donnell for Shepard.

Or, you know, cast Vanderloo for Shepard and then dub him with Meer. Like Vader in the original trilogy.

Male Shepard is canon, I believe.  Having a female as main character in an action flick is iffy sometimes.  Sometimes it works, often it doesn't, unless your last name is Jolie.  Most other females have a hard time pulling it off.
