My version of Mass Effect for the PC was purchased from D2D, Direct 2 Drive. They also had the BDtS DLC available to download and the 1.02 patch too.

I’ve read a lot about issues with ME1, and especially the Bring Down the Skies DLC being installed on Windows 7 64bit systems, which I have.  After recommendations by some of the folks here in the community, I decided to get ME1.
Since there were so many issues with the BDtS DLC, I made sure to play through the game at least once before attempting to install it.

I went to Bioware’s ME1 site:  http://accounts.bioware.com/index.html
and used my existing EA account email to register my ME1.
Then went here: http://accounts.biow...mepc_cdkey.html
and got a BDtS Authorization code. If you already have an account, it should bring up your existing ME1 (and BDtS codes).

Lastly I made sure to be automatically logged into the site by choosing “Remember Me” when logging in. (Not sure if this made a difference or not).

At first the install failed because I was unplugged from the internet but, when I tried a second time, the DLC was authorized and installed correctly.  It showed up in the Game’s Menu as being installed, and showed up immediately in a current play-through. It works! And yes, I tested it, to the Asteroid I went, I saw, I conquered, and I collected...

I’m posting this here in case anyone else who might have been discouraged from getting ME1 or the Bring Down the Skies DLC, as I was from all the posted issues.  The Direct 2 Drive version of ME1 and the publicly released DLC installed just fine on my Win 7 64bit system. It runs even when unplugged from the Internet. Image IPB

Desktop PC Pentium Duel Core 2.6ghz
6 gigs Ram
EVGA Nvidia GTS450 1 gig (lowest overclocked setting available). – on board sound card.

I get a little bit of screen stuttering at times running round in places, not in combat though. The game crashed once in awhile during conversations.
Running ME1 at 1280 x 720, high graphic settings, Linear with NO Motion Blur and NO Film Grain, it looks great, even better than I expected...

Edited ---  to fix link to CDkey page.  Added Pinnacle Station installed correctly too.

Also forgot to mention that I also started ME1 after installing the DLC whilst online just for the first time, as all Bioware DLC seems to need just once for Authorization before being able to play offline.

** Pinnacle Station downloaded through the EA Download Manager and installed correctly too.  I copied the file from where the EADM stored it and installed it manually though.

And yes, I have played through the content to test it and successfully did all the missions, including obtaining the final reward and Achievements. It works.
