ARRGG!! Why did it have to be released hours after
the special edition went down?!?

/RANT

Though I also felt very Grey Warden-ish at the
same time. Here me out...

During my first play though of DA:O, My most memorable
moment was the decision I had to make about at the Redcliff Castle. When I
discovered that Conner was under the influence of a Demon, I was presented with
a few tough choices (mind you I never cheat on first play through. I had no foreknowledge
of the possible consequences). The choices were as followed: Kill Connor.
Sacrifice Isolde to kill the Demon, but save Connor. Run to the mages tower for
help, and possibly save everyone.  The
first two choices felt very cut and dry, but the third choice could mean that I
returned to save everyone, or I could have returned to see everyone slaughtered
due to my leaving.

I thought for
roughly an hour on how I would attack that single choice.

Similarly I felt
this signature edition had put me in a personal dilemma. Steam is my gaming provider.
Period. I have bought exclusively from Steam for a couple years now. With Steam
I keep my games, Talk to friends, get updates, and they have been helpful and
easy to work with since day one. Then Dragon Age 2 SE appears like a legendary
Siren. It called to me saying, “Forsake your beloved Steam! I offer you FREE content
and exclusive weapons!” I didn’t want to start dividing my game collection over
other providers. I wanted to hold loyal to the provider who has been loyal to
me.  However, I had no confirmation that
DA2 would EVER be released on Steam. What if more content came with preorder
and I missed it all waiting for a Steam release? I didn’t know the future, and
I had to make a choice.

My choice now is
that I am about to log into Steam and preorder Dragon Age 2. I am going to
accept my lack of content and forgive EA/Bioware this time ;)

P.S. I know the
writers had nothing to do with the marketing and whatnot. Uber grats to the
game writers who made such a thrilling game for me that I had to put so much
thought into the purchase of a game.
