Or maybe a magical space elf farted into a dying sun and its solar flare vomited it all over a nebula, creating a chain-reaction known as the Skank Effect, before it got swallowed up by a black hole and mysteriously landed on Miranda's desk, who decided 'Sweet, this looks totally implausible AND it makes me look like a hooker. This is PERFECT protective armor.'

Y'know, since we're evidently going with nonsensical b.s. as our explanations.

@OP
With Jack it fits who her character is.

I personally don't find what Miranda's wearing very sexy at all. I know it's supposed to be sexy and I can see how people would find it sexy but she does absolutely nothing for me. She could be naked and I wouldn't care.

How on Earth is what Jacob's wearing sexual in any way what so ever?

It's not it looks like a damn super hero costume.

And Miranda's outfit does nothing for me either but I'm femle so...:? And really that looks like she's have a permanet wedgie.

And yes I preferred ME1 light armor. I looked like...well armor instead of a catsuit.

Only female who can pull off a catsuit is catwoman ladies. Stop trying so hard. =]

This sounds legit. So far the most logical explanation of why squadmates dont wear armor. Altough I like the theory that unique personality is armor itself but this just makes more sense.

Can't see it since I'm at work and the proxy blocked it, but I like how anyone who isn't obsessed with sex is automatically a puritan.  It appears that advertising has done it's job into making us think we should all be obsessed with sex 24/7...

Eh, it just keeps on proving that as gaming becomes more and more mainstream, the more halfwits will find their way onto the scene.

Really? I play Bioware games since the days of MDK, MDK2 and Baldurs Gate. I've played Baldur's Gate including Durlag's Tower exp (Tales of The Sword Coast eh?), played BG2:SoA-BG2-ToB, played all the Icewind Dale titles, KotoR, Neverwinter Nights and all its expansions. I also played DA:O and ME1 and ME2. Oh how can I forget Planescape Torment.

How do you describe me as "halfwit" attracted to mainstream scene?

Hell... I've grown up reading Conan and seeing Dragonlance half-naked-giant-boobed heroins like Kiriara and Goldmoon and while I agree that some titles can handle the concept in a most disrespectful way (and ME2 didnt) I don't feel the need to go on a self-righteous rampage.

Why don't you guys extend your QQ Enterprise and go to the Star Wars forums to complain about Han Solo's space casual outfit and Princess Leia's offensive displays of sensual clothes?

i have an idea....rather than complain about what some people find as flaws....how about we enjoy mass effect for the awesome game that it is and respect the fact that people have different opinions of the clothing in mass effect?

I didnt complained about the ME{1,2}-styled armor. I've enjoyed both games without ****ing about how a character is dressed. Its just that people never seem to be happy with anything and keep creating more and more threads about clothing and thermal clips. If you enjoyed the experience the game didn't failed you. If you don't like it... don't buy it.

I enjoyed Miranda's get up honestly, it just stretched my willing suspension of disbelief watching her wade into combat with it. I half expected her to kill Niket while wearing suspenders...

I enjoyed the game too, but that does not mean that there isn't anything I would like to see changed or found downright annoying.  We are discussing what we would like to see changed, the problem is that apparently you cannot dislike the clothing without being tagged as a puritanical prude.

Basicly if we analyse you sentense, you just sayed that mainstream of people are "halfwits". While I may agree with you that game developments are moving more and more to please mainstream peoples taste of games, that doesn't mean I agree with you insult. I may even agree that it's not neccassary good thing to go with mainstream, but you should have sayed it with more respect of others taste.

If we look situation, then allow players to have different cloths and armors, that will please most of us. Also like suggested before, seperate combat armors from casual cloths, based situation where characters are. You don't put combat armor on, in real life if you go shoping in city with friends. You don't go with high heels and fashion dress in war zone to fight.

1. It seems incredible that thread is as long as it in fact is. Just enjoy the game, if you are so uptight that the thought of a character not wearing power armour throws you into a state of neurotic stress then maybe you should just give it a miss. Equally if your delicate moral fibre is that easily bruised maybe you should just stick to Super Mario...

2. The fact that people (like me) have no problem with the clothes the characters wear does not make us (me a) sex-obsessed halfwit(s) it just means we are capable of reconciling one thing with another without getting hung up on it, and indeed of being able to consolidate the clothing the characters wear into our perception of the universe that they are in and into the game we are playing, and make it work.

Some of you are carrying on as if Bioware have jumped the shark and it's clearly not the case. I think they've done a great job in creating uniquely identifiable characters whose mannerisms, clothing, and actions really do define them and for my money make it all the more immersive.

3. (SPOILER ALERT) on at least one occasion it is pointed out directly to Miranda that the uniform she is wearing is inappropriate for the situation in which she is in. So yes, it's amusingly self-aware. As an aside I now have her in the black uniform, because it looks more functional, actually.

4. I think some of you need to get out more, really I do; because it seems to me that your obsessions with other people's perceived obsessions with sexuality say more about what goes in your minds than it does about the people that you've taken to calling halfwits.

As for Jack? Meh - I still don't like her. But then I don't find tattoos attractive. ;O)

I love how all you need is to voice one point of view that is obviously personal and controversial, and the ME2 fanboys descend like vultures to tear you apart and declare anything you've ever said to be b.s. It's like I'm talking to a Twilight fan, or a Scientologist.

EFA.
You're welcome ;O)

Seriously though - this is why I just play the games and only use the forums if I need help or information. Run away! Don't get involved!!

You do understand that you self do exactly same what you accuse others do here, just from different point of view. So, it's more a question what's everyone point of view and what fans they are.  Of course this is now off topic, so back to topic...

There is no possibility please everyones taste of armors, uniforms and casual cloths, so more options as choise for player have to customaze the situation, better is should be most of players.

Same here. They give the NPCs more individuality (granted, at the cost of believabilty -worth it imo).

I liked the outfits in both ME 1 and ME 2, but I tend to have liked them more in ME 2 because it made the characters more unique rather then cannon. However M1 armor never bothered me either.

They are "characters" nothing more nothing less, and I'm honestly surprised at all the sexual-phobic (taboo) in this thread being it 2011. I have many female friends and I would guarantee they would rather be dressed in something light, and sexy then have to wear a ton of armor if the could.

If you don't think most females likes to look sexy then I have no idea where you people have been.

Point is it's not a big deal either way, but I prefer the ME 2 unique look it gives the characters. They actually fit those characters personality very well. To each his own though.

I think Miranda's outfit is legitimately sexy and it suits her character (the sultry femme fatale), so I don't mind it. Heck, I don't even mind her wearing it into combat all that much, although a few pieces of strategic armor plating strapped over it might've been nice. The only thing that bothers me is when you see her in vacuum or on environmentally hostile worlds with nothing but a respirator facemask on and just as much exposed skin. That's kind of where my suspension of disbelief gives way...

In regards to Jack, I don't dislike her outfit because it shows too much skin. I just dislike it. Period. It's hideous.

As for Jacob, I'm really at a loss to understand how his outfit is in any way sexualized. He's basically wearing an armor-plated jumpsuit. Granted, it's snug. But it's not like he's wearing assless chaps or something.

Honestly? I thought the Light Onyx armor on females looked better/sexier than anything Shepard can wear in ME2. You looked like you were wearing a black (ok, more gray I guess) latex catsuit where even the least bulky armor combo in ME2 makes you look like a pro football player by comparison. Heck, even Medium Armor in ME1 was more form-fitting than anything in ME2...

Everytime I hear someone refer to miranda as a femme fatale I sigh.

She is not a femme fatale. She doesn't run Shepard to ruin, intentionally seduce hi, she just is a female badass. That's it.
