WoW! RP dilema if you ask me... Take Jack with my on a mission? Naah, she would highten my chances of succes and survival, but she looks ugly ans scary in that outfit, so i'll just die a few times first...
Bad RP if you ask me

What, she is useless as hell*. One of the best Squad Power to take as your bonus one though.

*her powers are worthless against defenses (which are quite frequent on harder difficulities), and squaddies are scrappy with shotguns.

No,I don't like outfits in ME2.I would be okay(actually great) if they just wore it aboard Normandy, but when I see anyone apart from Garrus and maybe Zaeed fighting in those outfits...it's just unrealistic.I really hope that in ME3 they start wearing those outfits only on Normany and have armor while in combat, like in ME1.

You humans are all sexist.

I don't mind characters having regular clothes on the normandy, but in combat? The decision not to have that is to me just stupid, and a wasted chance to make some really cool and personalized armors for those character who should have had it.

It was a big disappointment after ME1 being so good in having even the female crew members in armor with no heels, if you were desperate for fan-service it was right there in strip club, you know, where it makes sense at least. It made me so happy to play a game where the women were in the same kind of armor as the guys, that this was the normal state of things in the universe and I was excited to see more in the next game.

Then ME2 comes along and suddenly it's clevage and high heels in the middle of a combat zone. I didn't take Samara anywhere most of the time, she broke immersion for me, looking more like a 2nd rate DC super hero then a mystic warrior from the mass effect universe, I kept worrying she'd fall out of her top or break her ankle.

Not to mention shoving the camera right in Miranda's ass during non-romance dialogue. Seriously? Why? If I wanted to see her ass I would TAKE THE ROMANCE PATH. Why is a shot like that anywhere outside of her romance? Why is it part of her loyalty mission scene? Who ever framed that shot, please die in all the fires.

It made me loose a bit of love for the series and loose a bit more love and respect for bioware, it affected my enjoyment of the game and made me feel like an outsider rather then a welcomed player. The first play through I tried to ignore it and just take other characters with me, but as that new novelty wore off the objectification just became more and more irksome. It's really terrible and I hope they fixed it in ME3 though I wont hold my breath...

Yeah, I did hate them. The dancer outfits were lame. I could understand something chaste like that on Citadel and maybe Illium, but why are they wearing the same things on Omega?

Speaking of which - why is Kelly wearing it? I would rather have her use her Cerberus uniform, cosplay in Alliance uniform or maybe in one of those Asari commando leather outfits - kinky.

BioWare, I am disappoint...

Oh, and I agree with OP. Some of the squad outfits were ridiculous - one of the reasons I bought AAP1. I hope the future AAPs bring some better armor for Samara, Miranda, Grunt and Jacob.

are you even reading what in saying in my other posts. I think armor for pure biotics are unnecessary, and there are no such on the enemy site, the closest is a vanguard, and they are actually pure "fist fighters" so to them armor is especially important. I agree Miranda might need another form of armor when off ship, but i think its ok with Jack.

Also i can see why some ppl might find Jack sort of "offending" due to her look and all of her tattoos, but then its bad RP ;) I only think its cool that BW brings SO different looks into play, instead of all regular neutral stuff. Im nut saying she pretty or anything, i just like the concept.

Oh, look, another person who neglected to read the Codex. Protip: Biotic barriers can't keep out radiation, temperatures or the crushing pressure of zero-gravity. Nor do they protect from a lack of oxygen seeing as they do not trap it within themselves like a bubble.

Crushing pressure of zero-gravity? :crying:

As for the suits in ME2 - there was many flaws in ME1, but at least they tried to go with a SF lore. In ME2 they wanted skanky outfits, and then wrote a half-assed cover story for it.

I loved a lot of things in ME2, but the neglect in certain critical SF areas was annoying, like the lack of suits.

*is very happy to learn she's not the only one*

Seriously for all the "Jacob is objectified too!" I've never noticed it...oh wait it's not shoved in my face!

Plus...Jacob's body has really weird proportions like he just focuses on his upper half. He's all buff on top and then the bottom just...

Realistic is kinda bad word to use fro a game like ME if you ask me.. We can tlk about possible natural thoughts from the human side, like armor to jack being unnessecary, but realistic is a poor choice of word IMO.

Sorry. The crushing pressure of outer space. Better? Regardless, biotics aren't gonna do sh*t to save anyone when they're in outer space or a planet with little to no atmosphere. If you're running around with a prissy-looking breather mask and nigh-topless, all the biotics in the world aren't gonna stop the environment from ganking you within moments.

yeah I'll belive the guys in ME are being objectified when I see Jacob lean over a console and the camera zooms in to lovingly show how his jumpsuit goes right up his ass-crack, OUT OF ROMANCE mind you.
Also where's my ridiculassly human looking all-male promiscuous bisexual aliens dancing in nightclubs hmmm? Nothing wrong with a bit of sexuality right?

If you have a breather mask, the only dangerous thing about space is radiation. And heat, if you're near something hot, like a star. Freezing to death will take several hours at least in space, since - with no atmosphere - all heat-transfer will be through infra-red radiation, which will take quite a while. The lack of pressure will not, according to NASA, cause your skin or eyes or bloodvessels to burst. If your mask doesn't cover your eyes, the saline on the outside of your eyes will boil though. The lack of pressure will, however, make your exposed skin numb, and may cause some temporary, reversible deformation of the skin. The radiation will leave you with a very severe sunburn within minutes though.

Even though they're not bothering me much I think I'd rather see BW tone down the sexy outfits a bit. It works for some characters but it stands out a bit too much with Samara for instance. It almost takes away from the overall serious feeling of the game. Some of it works, like in the clubs and so on, I don't mind it one bit there. I actually wouldn't even mind if Jack was completely topless like in her litho.. that semi-bra she's wearing looks a bit strange tbh.

Actually there is very low pressure in space, approximately a 100 km over earth sea level, pressure drops to about 1 pa (as opposed to sea level where it is about 100 times more, if I remember correctly),  which is why your bodily fluids will be sucked out of you. Almost before you die of hypothermia. Pressure is defined by air or water molecules hitting a body (body being an object). And in space there is less than 1 hydrogen atom per cubic meter.

High pressure = A lot of mass pressing around an object
Low pressure = No mass pressing around an object

Ah... I just don't care, really, during combat I pay more attention to the environment and to the enemies than to my companions, and as long as they don't die often because of the lack of armor, I'm happy.

ok guys OFF TOPIC!! plzz stop it... We all know you cannot survive in space if not protected in all kinds of ways, so lets drop the discussion of what will kill you first, and why.

Keep to the topic plzz.

@Nwalmenil

That's a good post... and i agree.

I dont mind Miranda's clothing on the Normandy cause they are in sealed environment, but out in combat, its pure sex appeal and stupidity.

Everyone in combat should have amour, biotic or not, they both will receive small arms fire. Biotic's need armour as their barrier is going to drop eventually. People like Thane can get away with lack of armour though they should wear a light and highly flexible suit if they need to go out into lacking atmospheres. Whether you like it or not, the armour should come back for the sheer unbelievability that no armour imposes

If biotic barriers kept out the harshness of radiation or a total vaccum, then the person would suffocate very quickly due to no oxygen being able to pass through the barrier. They would have to wear their lifesupport gear even while on the Citadel.

It irks me professionally, when you enter an active combat zone, you wear the appropriate protective gear.

Another good thing armor has going for it is the fun factor of gearing your squad. I know I got exited when I managed to find a new armor for Tali for instance in ME1. It would've been nice to have more options for armor customization for your squad mates.

And there's nothing wrong with nudity/showing plenty of skin. As long as you manage to pull it off without looking cheap.

Again. Look at who they used to be the face and voice of Miranda.

Also, there will always be spots where Sci-Fi messes up on realism. In BSG and Serenity for instance, there was noise in space. Muffled in BSG's case, but still noise. There's always a mess up. In the case of Miranda, IMO its worth it.

That said, I wouldn't mind customizable armor/outfits for squaddies, but for Miranda it would definitely need to go well with "the perfect woman."
