Hey I already said it doesn't really apply to Jack. All I am saying is that Bioware could come up with an excuse for Miranda if they really wanted to. Maybe Cerberus and Illusive man found a new type of material on some unknown planet. Maybe there are tiny mass effect generators lining the inside of her suit that slow down and/or stop the bullets from delivering full impact. Maybe the suit she uses in combination with her powers produces a small biotic field that shields her from most damage. Maybe there are nano machines. Maybe it is just a development oversight. The fact is who knows?! I don't really care either way.
Also on the other side let's say they all did have armor and helmets and all that stuff. It still wouldn't explain how they are able to survive getting blasted by a geth colossus or how they can survive getting blasted by Collector sentry beams that was able to cut through the Normandy's upgraded kinetic barriers and through the ships upgraded plating. Or how Shepard can take a rocket to the face with shields down and still survive. Any way you look at it it would not make sense. Everyone can sit here and talk about armor making ME more realistic until we are all blue in the face. The fact is you can still find something unbelieveable about it whether they have the armor or not.
Heh, I mean, lets get one thing straight, I've never claimed that it's hurt my experience with the game. It's just a little nitpick I have, like an itch that every time I scratch it it gets a bit itchier.
Of course, they can change/recon whatever they want. It's their intellectual property.
As far as realism, I've already stated that I don't think you can fall back on game mechanic type stuff for a lore/canon argument. Somethings have to be the way they are because it would ruin the game play experience if things were too real. No one wants shephard to have to find a bathroom every couple of hours.
As far as Shep eating a rocket to the face -- if you play on insanity, this is no longer the case. Insanity to me is a slightly more "real" experience, i.e. rapid death if your shields go down and you continue to let your body be punished.
But, like I said, I will never argue that we get that realistic. I would like for the characters to wear hardsuites in combat, though. Even the freelancers who go after archangel had the sense to invest in a little bit more protection with their measely pay from the Mercs.

I'm actually kind of loving the fact that this thread has more people getting upset about the inconsistencies of female turians not having 'fringes' whilst b*tching about how femme turians aren't feminine or attractive by their standards, than there are people speaking out about a glaring inconsistency such as this one involving nonsensical outfits and Jack running around topless is just shrugged off by the majority. I love me some double-standard. At least in the other thread, though, the majority is leaning more towards 'it's better because it makes sense and isn't catering to sexualized standards'. That's always a good thing.
Wow. I can't believe there's a 10-page thread on what's clearly an artist oversight. The Genesis comic (another Dark Horse product) shows Garrus and Tali dual-wielding pistols as well, but I don't take that to be canonical fact.

*sigh*
Is that why you're having a nervous breakdown over this? Because you think everyone is 'shrugging it off'? Why are you so bothered about it?

I think until more ME3 news comes out, Nitpicking is all that remains to be discussed.

I'm surprised, Uszi, in regards to your previous post, that Samara was mentioned at all. Aside from desperately needing to zip up, I think she's more than adequately protected by ablative plating. I assumed that is what most of the red material was meant to be.
I think the zipping up is the issue with Samara's outfit.
Kind-of negates wearing protection at all when you leave your upper chest exposed to on coming fire.
I mean, your torso is precisely where you are most likely to get hit.

The topic is officially over and an agrement has been reached:
Ok it looks like we have reach
an agreement.. The skin-showing clothing and "personal" clothing is ok
and all that, but belongs to The Normandy part of the game. Besides
that, sqaudmates should be wearing armor when in battle, some of us even
think biotics should, while some of us disagrees.
The topic is officially over and closed, but you're free to keep discussiong and go off topic.
I always keep wondering why this should even be an issue.
I'm OK with most every aspect of the game. And its quite obvious it isn't meant to be a game to be under the christmas tree or the birthday table of a 6 year old.
I mean, come on, there are rewards for a certain amount of headshots and even one for sending your enemies to their death burning and screaming. Considering this, the sexual outfits are the just an addition. A nice one in my book, even if that may come over as sexist. But the women presenting these outfits aren't painted as stupid barbies, but as strong or - in the case of Jack - as disturbed personalities with many interesting shades.

1. Were the colonists armored fighting the Geth? Nope very few. All it takes is the weapons to kill the enemy. You have natural terrain and cargo boxes and other things to hide behind. You are also more stealthy and faster without armor. Getting the drop usually mean your enemies drop armored or not. Some people are going to prefer fighting without armor for whatever reasons. Would you tell Luke Skywalker hey man put this armor on? LOL
2. BW made them in their suits. They created the armor system and chose how each of the characters were presented. Since in the gameplay the armor "skins" give you no extra benefit such as more hitpoints or gasp an armor bar like enemeis have then things are as they want them. I have no problem with how they choose to represent their artistic property.
3. I am not averse to have more skins one of them full armored mode for Gleym and others. I do not mind playing games as the companies that made them envisioned either. With games its a take it or leave it. I enjoy the games based on the experience not whether they are 100% realistic.

Not 'this' at all.
Did you even read the complaints?
People don't like the outfits because they look stupid, ridiculous and unrealistic not because of some 'fear of boobs'.

Wouldn't say Western. It's rather an American thing, the Mayflower spirits still haunting their shores.

Yes I would. There's a reason why SWAT, police, and the army all go into battle in armor.

Miranda's outfit could easily be made of the same metal-dipped polymers that ME1 light armor is comprised of. Not as protective as Shepard's modular N7, but that's because the N7 armor is the equivalent of ME1's medium or heavy armor.
Mirandas outfit is not an armor.
The "it could be made of a super-material" is a terrible argument. Why? Because if you havea super-material, why not use a even thicker layer of it to make yourself even MORE protected? Why doesn't eveyone use that super-material (least of all the 4 billion dollar man, Shep)
Suffice to say that we know what armor looks li,e we know how armor works..and Mirandas outfit doesn't fit...at all.

But then again, they haven't got bionic shields.

Neither does most of your squad, See it would be something if it was stated that all Biotics had Barrier ..hell it would even make sense if the lore said that biotics doesn't wear armor because it interfere with their biotic ability but instead relied on their barriers but sadly..no such thing.

Also, everyone keeps talking as if the people on Shepards team are an actual military unit. They are mostly freelance, mercs, etc. They wear whatever they want.

I see what you mean and I partly agree. It would have been more interesting if the crew members kept changing into something more comfortable once they're on board.
But we're talking taste here, not reality. The whole game has a very loose connection to reality.

Good job, you know, responding to an actual argument in this thread.
Instead of spouting off some bullcrap.
With a condescending attitude.
I like your posting style.
