Mass Effect is very sexual and it's part of the appeal. The outrage over outfits seems fake to me. It's not like Mass Effect has ever hidden that fact. There is a whole race of strippers...

I have no issue with there being strippers in the ME universe, as a matter of fact I find it makes the universe feel more real.
But when my squad of elite soldiers run into battle against fully armored foes dressed like strippers that's when I start to get annoyed.

the sexuality in ME2 was at the level of two 10 year old boys snickering in the corner because they just heard the word "boobies"

Oh so when ME1 lets you oggle strippers and have meaningless sex with Asari hookers its in context. I'm not complaining about the presence or existence of those characters but the interactivity is clearly meant to titilliate.

Listen, I'm not saying ME2 is guiltless, I don't like the stripper oggling or Samara's cleavage or the DAT ASS shot but ME1 wasn't any more innocent in this regard, they both have moments where the sexuality is juvenile.

I neither oggled strippers or had meaningless sex with hookers when I was 10.  Sexy super hero outfit women were big for me though.  Now that I am 37, things may have changed a bit.  :)

Point was, the hypocritical attitude. The real difference between ME1 and ME2 is in squad members outfit system. Other ways both games was same (sexual cloths).

True and outside the squad that is just part of the Mass Effect universe.

The game has a mature atmosphere to it for a mature audience.

I can understand wanting to show off Jack's tattoos, but she should really of had more clothing on. Her leather jacket and shades outfit is much better.

Samara's also didn't need to show as much cleavage as it did. It really did not fit her character. She seemed a lot more reserved, and didn't seem like the type to go around flaunting her body.

I thought Jack is very "punk" like character and I felt that her outfit was one way she gave "**** you! I don't care!" message about herself and I thought that fit very well into her character.

Samara well, her outfit is quite "dominatrixesque" and somehow I think it might be that it didn't came out like that by accident.
She doesn't let anything stand between her and her goal and so she is dominant character who makes her own rules and sex as a weapon could apply to her character as well as Miranda.
Not that I'm complaining but when I recruited her it really started to feel like Bioware is trying really hard cater something for everyone (even though she can't be "romanced").

One of the best things about this series is how meaningful and emotinal the experience is, pursuing romantic relationships with characters just adds to that. It's perfectly healthy to be appealed by sexual content and what I've seen in me is by no means a bad thing, quite the contrary. I love it.

My squadmates should wear armor in combat situations. That's all.

Miranda and Jacob are wearing the equivalent of ME1's light armor. I don't understand how they're perceived as being sexual other than the fact that they fit to one's form, which Kaiden, Liara, and Tali's armors did in ME1.

Some of you, it must be said, do come across as rather prudish.

I fail to see what the problem is.

Personally I never really cared lack of armor in fights because I hardly ever needed to micromanage my squad mates and paid attention only to that they are alive and not in my line of fire.

It can be damn stupid for consumer to start guessing why developers ended in decisions like why there weren't armors for squad mates for combat missions.

Then I never been a clever guy so I make a guess that maybe they needed to cut corners in production for reasons I guess were good. I mean ME games are huge with a ton of features. Maybe armored models of characters were cut to get something else in the game? If they were going just put some T&A in just for sake of T&A they were probably started that with Femshep model? (I'v read Femshep is model design is based on male physiology and more or less bulky for woman?)

Anyway, in the end characters in ME games have lots of things under the surface.

I'll quote myself.

It looks stupid, damages the credibility of the universe and serves no other purpose than to give horny idiots something to ****** over.
What's not to understand?

Just to touch on something the squadmates with the form fitting outfits are Biotics (Jack, Miranda, Jacob and Samara). There's some precedent for that with the Asari commandos from ME1 and Liara who surprise surprise wear skin-tight leather outfits.

So no... Everybody does not need to be wearing hardsuits. Its established Biotics wear less armor than tech/regular soldiers.

Everyone else on the squad wears suits that are more than appropiate (looking at Tali and Kasumi there).

Funny, I never saw Shiala going out in a vacuum without a helmet.

You're never actually in a vacuum in ME2, at least with the squad.

I won't argue about the helmet thing because even I and I'm a HUUUUGE ME2 mark thought the helmet designs for the most part were silly.

But again you're never actually in a vacuum.

ME2 contains several planets that would kill you if your skin was exposed.

But honestly, even if it didn't that wouldn't justify the stupid armors.

Shepard's wearing armor.

The people shooting at you are wearing armor.

Why isn't your squad wearing armor?

Not vacuum, but without atmospheric pressure: Heretic Base and possibly the Vi infested station.

Same deal, you expose your skin, you turn into a spectacular gory mess.

Was it clearly stated Heretic base didn't have a atmosphere? I know that gravity was reduced. I'll check YouTube.

EDIT: He says it has little air or gravity, he doesn't mention atmospheric pressure.

Erl is quite astute. You are never in a vacuum in a mission. Nobody even mentions such an environment.

The closest thing would be the Collector Ship, which still had minimal power and could thus maintain its atmospheric containment fields.

What about heretic station?  Legion stated that geth do not pressurize their ships or space stations.

The same reason Liara wore that skin tight outfit, Benezia was able to rock around in her (ugh) boobalicious outfit and the Commando's wear skin tight leather, manueverability vs defense which they can counterbalance with their barriers.

Well, you still get screwed if you take a baloon to the stratosphere.

The commando armor looks more like armor than Miranda, Jack or Samara's attire plus they don't have heels.

Stop trying to justify the nonsense that is ME2 outfits.
