Considering they pretty much always hit what they're shooting at unless it's behind cover. I can't be sure, but the Shuriken doesn't have the burst limitation does it when it's wielded by a squadie, and doesn't it have more DPS than the Tempest?

Any DPS numbers applying to the player are completely meaningless for squad mates, since they use different aim times, delays between bursts, amount of shots till going to cover, ...

They do the most damage with Tempest (and spend the most time out of cover). BTW, they have less firing delays, if they are in the open and not in cover.

If you are going to use squad cryo ammo, Shurikan is better as the lower burst count gives it a higher chance of causing the freeze.

Otherwise, Tempest if theyre the type to rush forward, Locust if you get them to hang back.

Usually Tempest, because your squad members as well as other enemies have no recoil when firing a weapon.

Tempest, especially if you're using your squaddies to debuff enemies, since it does a better job of ripping off shields and barriers than either Shuriken or Locust. Since they have little to no recoil, range isn't an issue.

When it came to squadmates, my understanding has always been to go either max ROF or max 1-shot damage... The AI ignores recoil and ammo, but isn't able to 'feather the trigger' or use any other kinds of shooting tricks, so they work the best with straightforward guns like the Tempest.

I would like to add that the squad fires the Tempest for a longer burst than the Locust or Shuriken, a matter of seconds really.

So another factor to consider is how long they stay out of cover, which is especially important as you go to higher difficulties.

Also, I have had a preference to keep the Locust on the squad for the balance of damage output, time out of cover and modifiers against more defenses compared to the other two.

I tried to figure this out a while back, and you will never figure it out because there are too many variables. I tried using the reaper iff mission with squad cryo using 4 different sets of squadmates with both tempest then with both Locust. There was not any difference in the times to clear the mission ( up to the core fight ).

I never tried putting Shuriken on them. I usually put Locust on them for armor heavy missions ( even though my testing showed no difference on the reaper Iff!! )

Bioware could figure this out because they could control some of the variables, but its really an unknown in my opinion.

For some reason, maybe it had something to do with her mission, but I always give Kasumi the Locust and everyone else the Tempest.

I usually stick with the Tempest for squadmates. They're extraordinarily accurate with it, and if you don't have a squadmate with Assault Rifles, the Tempest makes a decent replacement for suppressive fire.

Kassa Locust by far. If you have the Kasumi DLC.
