Hey All,

There's this GREAT sticky on stuff you can add to NWN2 to make it better, and
fix things. Problem is, it’s such a HUGE list. It’s overwhelming. I know
everyone has their own opinions, and it is discussed in the thread, but I was
wondering if I could get a shorter list of the essential essential ones, if
that makes sense. I'd like to fix gameplay problems (AI, broken stuff etc), and
maybe have some sound/graphical improvements. I am playing as a cleric, so
something that makes buffing easier would be good (there are a few mentioned in
there, but idk which one to get). I don't need a million things, just the
stuff people thing really make a huge/important difference.

The thing is, I work a LOT, and since I live with my girlfriend and
another friend, I don't have a lot of time for gaming anymore. So, I want
to spend as much time playing as I can, without having to test a million
mods and such. If I could just have people weigh in and/or discuss, I'd
really appreciate a tight list of the must-haves, for core-game improvements
(AI, bug fixes, etc), gameplay improvements (autobuff, HUD, etc), and immersion
improvements (graphics, sounds etc).

I apologize if this comes off as lazy. I HAVE read through the sticky and
searched the vault, but its just so overwhelming. If you're still annoyed with
this thread, then please don't flame.

Thanks!!!

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4??? Really??? God, I hope not.

There are no universally accepted mods. The closest to come to that is probably TonyK's AI and a version of that was officially included. You can upgrade to the newer version available on the vault.

There is no official bug fixing mod that only fixes known bugs and fixes them in ways that everyone agrees with. While there are some bugs in the game, they just aren't enough of a problem for someone to do a bug-fixing-only mod. And any such mod is going to be incompatible with other mods.

I suggest you just play the game as is and when you find something that annoys you look for a mod that addresses that annoyance. You mention wanting something to speed up buffing, so try the Rod of Preparation.

If you decide you want additional companions (and you have SoZ installed), then consider the Deck of Trumps item.

If you want additional Prestige classes, then consider Kaedrin's PrC pack. (Because it changes so many things, I do not recommend using it if you do not want additional Prestige classes.)

If you want to change a lot about the game at once (death, rest, multi-classing companions, additional plot, etc.) then consider the OC Makeover SoZ Edition.

I can't speak to graphics and sounds mods because generally I tone those things down rather than trying to beef them up.

Regards

hahahha... hello no. I use Minefield. Thats coming from MS Word, which I copied/pasted my post into for spellcheck. When I pasted back into my post, it didn't show any of that crap, and now I cant edit it.

As for my questions, sounds like i should just play the vanialla and get the rod.

Anyone else?

I think that is a good idea but there is a bit of a problem. NWN2 beats the pants off of pretty much all the other games out there (other than NWN1 which equals it) when it comes to customization. There are thousands of ways to customize your gaming experience. That great strength allows a multitude of different playstyles to be accomodated.

So it is hard to make a single package to fit all.

Personally, I think you will have a great experience with just the patched game. But I understand that some folks want some specific things.

Lastly, please have a look at this thread:

It is worth sticking around the community after playing through the official content. There is a lot to do here. :)

Anything to make the game harder than the hardest in-game setting? My char is, so far, able to solo this game with ease.

Tony K's AI.

Companion and Monster AI 2.2.

And the Makeover by Kaldor should make the OC  a bit harder, but I don't know if you can install it in the middle of a playthrough.

Granted there's a lot of opinion etc, but it might be nice to organise the various mods and add-ons by type or purpose somehow, so that at least they can all be seen in one place without swamping people. A lot of people in that thread suggested the same ones as each other so the bulk of it is indeed a mess.

You can. What would make it harder are using the Makeover options for resting restrictions and having party members stay dead until raised. Some of the people who want to play hard-core also want to rest and fully recharge after every battle.  Go figure. The Makeover doesn't touch the AI though, so it should be fully compatible with Tony K's stuff.

Reeron's Spell Fixes and Improvements should also make the enemies in the OC more difficult.
