Hi everyone,

I bought my digital copy of the ME2 GamersGate this past Christmas. I've downloaded there, I installed everything correctly and then start the game (regardless of character or not), just after I choose the two lines with another character, Shepard will press a button and the scene crashed. And stayed there, and it was impossible to return to the desktop.

I inserted the key in the game EADM and redid the download and the whole process, including upgrading the game to the latest version. I managed to pass this time thought to be some error in file ...

But I was wrong. After a few minutes, when Shepard is suffering something [SPOILER!] and shows that scene lab, again freezing. Again, impossible to return to the desktop.

My setup:

AMD Phenom II 955
Asus M4A79 Deluxe
OCZ 4GB DDR2 800 Ram
ATI HD 4870 1GB XFX XXX
XFX 650W
Audigy 2 Zs
Windows 7 x64

Updated all the drivers from the video, sound and motherboard. Still the problem continues. Some solution or something I can do for you have a better idea of where the problem might be?

Sorry for my bad English!

Thanks

-

Resolution at my last post. ^_^

Windows Version?

DirectX Version?

Video and audio driver versions? Dont say "latest".

Give more info and we might be able to see where the problem lies. The "Read First" thread (front page of the forum, second from the top, never moves from there) tells you what information we need, and even has screen shots to show you how to get it.

The first thing I would try is download DirectX9.0c direct from Microsofts website. It theoretically should have been included and installed with your didgital edition, but the Steam version hasnt been doing what it should of late, and it wouldnt surprise me it the Gamergate version didnt do it either.

ME2 specifically requires that revision of DX. It can run on later versions, but issues are known to occur.

Win7 is capable of running both 9.0c and 10 side by side without any hassles.

The system summary didnt mention anything about your video driver version, so based on you saying latest, I will assume its the 10.12 release. If DX9 doesnt work, go into control panel -> system -> display adaptors -> drivers, and select the rollback driver button. Sometimes the latest drivers cause more problems than they solve.

I downloaded DX here, and yes, the video driver is 10.12. I'll try running the game and post the results here. Thanks!

Hmm, the problem persists. Look at this screen:

this scene is exactly (about 12 minutes after leaving the desktop to the game) that the freezing occurs. For a few seconds, the sound still, but later is also dumb and impossible to return to the desktop. I noticed that the HDD activity light stays lit, so I'll try to install in another directory to see what happens ..

Sorry for the "flood", but..

I installed the game in the same directory that I have games from Steam, and it worked perfectly now. HDD would be the problem? I find it odd since I have other games installed there and work perfectly, but anyway, I'll defragment disks.

Thanks for your patience, Bogsnot1!
