The Migrant Fleet fighting Reapers?

Sure there are thousands of ships but they are all old run down ships. Most of those ships aren't even combat ships they only posses a small fighting force reletive to fleet size. The only way they'd be able to help is if they evacuated all the ships and put them on Kamakazi runs and just slammed thousands upon thousands of ships in the Reapers.
So I'm just wondering if anyone else find the idea that the Migrant Fleet is going to do anything even mildy useful?

Every shot they take is one less shot hitting your good ships.

The quarians would be torn to shreds. If they settled a new world and started builiding new ships before the Reapers invade, maybe the Migrant Fleet could just be sent out as distraction.

Or everyone dresses up as Quarians to make the Reapers think that all the important races already left the Galaxy.

So what? If the Quarians are needed to save the galaxy, it doens't matter if every single one of them dies. But of course Bioware won't have the balls to do a choice like that, they'll have six or seven interchangable fleets and you only need three of them to get through the game. And there will be a blue text option when you're talking to the geth to the effect of GIVE THE QUARIANS THEIR HOMEWORLD BACK and they will just be like "OK!"

Because a part of me hopes the Reapers are not Vulnurable to the AI hacking ability, something about that would just be anti climatic. That and the Quarians would be the most powerful race in the galaxy.StarGateGod wrote...
why do we doubt the combat ability of the quarians? the are very tech specialists

Because he's commander motherfracking Shepard. If you don't like the blue options then don't use them.adam_grif wrote...

Is anyone else with any sort of vague military/civil logistics background as bemused as I am about how someone would question how a million-ship logistical lift force could possibly be mildly useful in a war?
Anyone at all?

Quarians are seperate from their ships. Their ships do not need to be stuffed completely with warm bodies in order for them to be able to take a shot. The Quarains can do their techno stuff all the way behind the scenes, or from the good ships.didymos1120 wrote...
Lemme see: We're facing genocidal AI starships, which are still very much on the machine end of things. Quarians are renowned galaxy wide as experts on AI, starships, and technology in general. Nah, screw it: they're clearly much more useful getting themselves slaughtered in a hopeless and useless war.

Put a Thanix Cannon on each ship that can handle one. If it can only fire once before needing to recharge then they can shoot then pull back as other ships take its place.adam_grif wrote...

Their true value would be transporting supplies to the front so that all actual warships can be pressed to counter the Reapers head on.Dean_the_Young wrote...

Correction. The Reapers are only half machine, they are as organic as they are inorganic. The Quarians may be experts in the areao of technology. But when compared to the Geth who think faster, are more intellegent, and have access to more resourses and technology the Quarains are at best second.

Even if they do nothing but transport troops or help evacuate endangered colonies, they can play a vital role.
2. As a group, Quarians are the most experienced deep space navigators in the galaxy. They're good, even if their ships aren't so hot.
3. As somebody mentioned, a FTL ship is an FTL ship, able to use the Mass Relays. Better to have a scow on the spot than to sit around wishing for a dreadnought you don't have.
4. Is this going to be a straight-up fight, or a hacking attack? We don't know yet. Let's decide how valuable the Quarians are after we have a strategy.
5. The Geth are definitely powerful. They aren't going to fully join the fight, however, as long as the Quarians are waiting in the wings to take back their homeworld.
You get the Geth AND the Quarians, or you don't really get either, I'll bet. You shouldn't try fighting a battle with two of your important allies worried about getting stabbed in the back by the other.

And troops.
And refugees.
And hell, just because many aren't armed now doesn't mean they can't be. Nothing short of a Dreadnaught is going to have super-durable shielding in the first place, so the lack of 'not military capable' rather falls through when even military-class ships will be torn to ribbons by the Reapers.

The key seems to be somehow disabling their core or disrupting their mind. Quarians will have little use outside of fodder or logistics unless you somehow plan on upgrading the entire fleet with thanix cannons.
Hell I doubt any alliance ships have Thanix cannons on them.
