Wouldn't they say if it had bonuses?

I'm sure they would. I'm not one to buy strategy guides anymore, but this one has a pretty nice cover.

Strategy guide, are you serious? I am almost positive you could train a chimpanzee to play modern RPGs. What a waste of money.

The collector's edition guide for Origins had a lot of cool lore stuff included.

It's nice to have the guide itself on hand after the first playthru, too. Just to see what I missed.

I regretted not getting the guide for DA:O because of the bridge puzzle during the Sacred Ashes quest. I will be getting this one, for sure.

If I can't figure something out, I just use the internet.

You can find excellent strategy guides for free on the Internet if you really want one. They won't be up right away, but it won't take long for them to pop up.

I just get Strategy Guides if there's a Collector's Edition of it, otherwise it's not a big deal to me, and Bioware tends to give some really cool bonuses in their CE's.

The solution to that "puzzle" was posted here within hours of the game's release. You don't need to spend $35 on it

Yes yes, it's all available on the internet, and in the end the internet info will tend to be more accurate (the wiki-style guides, anyway).

But the collector's edition guides are nice. Good for console players who don't have a laptop and want the guide in their living room for one. For another, they're good for people who don't feel right taking a laptop into the bathroom. ;)

That tempted me the first time around. Then I saw we had a wiki. So any 'exclusive' lore content is going to end up there.

Honestly, unless the strategy guide is an uber-cool/classy book, or the game is huge, then I'll just consult the  multitude of free guides on the internet.

I never once used the DAO CE of the strategy guide for helping during my game time. If I needed help free online guides were more readily available and had better content. Except for the interviews, artwork and a metric crapton of lore that you would not be able to pick up anywhere else. It was well worth the 24.99 I payed.

I also orderded the DA2 CE strategy guide within minutes of being aware of it's existence. I'll appreciate the extra and it's a sexy looking beast.

Oh I know, I did manage to get pass it. The guide would just be convinent to have in the livingroom with my 360. I also agree with some of the people who have said it'd be nice to have it as a CE item. Btw, I preordered it on Amazon for $23.

Just noticed that. It's $23 at Amazon. I think it was $19 when I preordered it.

^^ this.

I'm surprised people still buy these things, unless it's just to have them as part of a collection or something?

I want one of these. Last time I missed out on the collectors' edition DAO strat guide; the one with all the devs' signatures on the flyleaf... this time around I need to be faster!

And for the people saying that you can look up all the walkthroughs and info you need on the internet, sure, but there's something to be said for holding a hardbound book in your hands and looking at the pretty pictures.

I actually have all the strategy guides for every BioWare game that ever had one.  I have my framed Jon Irenicus poster that was included in the Baldur's Gate II Versus strategy guide hanging over my monitor right now.
And, Seb, yes, the DA:O Collector's Edition guide is beautiful.  Sorry you missed it. Posted Image

Preordered this one on Amazon as soon as I knew of its existence. Posted Image

Btw, this is getting a little ridiculous, BioWare, 3 preordered copies of the game, and 2 strategy guides.  One game for each platform, and one guide to use, and one guide to keep pristine.  My husband has started saying we need a credit card that's for dedicated BioWare purchases only. Posted Image
