I want one of these. Last time I missed out on the collectors' edition DAO strat guide; the one with all the devs' signatures on the flyleaf... this time around I need to be faster!
And for the people saying that you can look up all the walkthroughs and info you need on the internet, sure, but there's something to be said for holding a hardbound book in your hands and looking at the pretty pictures.

Couldn't you have just picked up a non-collector's edition DAO guide and, I don't know, take it to work and have guys in the office sign it like a yearbook?

I'm on the fence though, I'm already building a new PC so I can push the graphics to the limits....
...and getting the signature edition..... overnighted....
Do I really need to spend another $40 on this?

Well how often does that happen? It's not like "puzzles" in games are challenging. Even the bridge puzzle in DAO took about 30 seconds if you a) paid attention and can remember details from the previous few minutes, or

This 10xs over. I buy walkthroughs for the maps and artwork. I HATE trying to decipher a written description for a location from an internet walkthrough.

The best strategy guides will, as always, be written by players. They're not afraid to say "This is useless, don't put any points into it."

No. That is really unfair on the players who put a huge amount of effort into it.Maria Caliban wrote...

I actually use it more than I thought I would; saves me hitting alt-tab if I want to check which merchant sells unlimited trap triggers or something.

I will take that as an attack on me because I said I struggled with that puzzle. For you to put the word puzzle in quotation means you are a)Arrogant and b)view yourself as someone of greater mind and intellect. We get it, you play DAO on Nightmare and laugh at those who don't. You find no challenge in modern RPG's. We get it. You're a gaming god. But maybe there is a deeper reasoning behind your "You are nubs" mentatlity? Are you compensating for something?

Hah, yes.
How do I know this? Because 90% of what's in the DA:O strategy guide is in the wiki and that information gets c+p'ed into things like IGN.com's walkthrough.

It's unfair to say that people who write walkthroughs used the official strategy guide? Whatever.

that specialization was useless
I don't know, it was kinda fun running around faster as a spider, which is mainly why I chose that spec. After finding out there was a "Haste" option for my mage to make everyone run faster (even if the attack damage suffered a wee bit), I said, "HELL YEAH!" You don't know how much I enjoyed moving at a faster pace, especially when tackling the Fade and the Deep Roads. That is why I make sure Haste is the first thing points are put into. What sucks a bit, though, is where I have to tackle the Fade and I'm not a mage... crikey, it just goes on forever! *cries big, sobby tears*
Now, when I'm not rolling a mage when going for the Deep Roads, at least, I drag Morrigan along. If you want to move faster than you ever thought possible (and you're also a mage), bring Morrigan and Wynne along and make sure Haste is active for your Warden as well as the other two gals. OMG, I've never laughed so friggin' hard!
