My first two playthroughs will be mage. Then I plan to play as a rogue, especially since I'm curious to see how it will affect the story (Carver vs Bethany, how templars and mages treat your PC, etc.)

I also can't wait to try mage finishing moves!

Yeah. It's a swordstaff. It's still a staff, and the devs have confirmed that Hawke is a mage in the trailer.



Even though that was gameplay, I caution you against thinking mages will be diving into melee combat like a warrior. They can technically attack with melee moves now, but they are still mages and are still squishy. As far as we know, there are no melee staff moves at all. If you want to go into melee combat, play a warrior or a rogue. Play a mage if standing back (at least for the majority of the time) and lobbing spells at your enemies appeals to you. Since Arcane Warrior is gone, there is very little cross-over. Bioware has specifically stated that one of their goals regarding DA2 was to make the classes more distinct from each other.

Funny the way they decide to show us that is to give us the destiny trailer then throw the fact that trailerHawke is a mage in our face.

Mage, definitely. I'm certain to put some points into blood magic as well as a few elemental ones. Maker knows I want the chance to shoot lighting at fools.

thats mage armor the warrior and rogue armor are different



i was gonna start as a warrior but the staff of parlathan,the armor and the cool animations for the spells persuaded me and come on the deathblow of ripping people in half is a huge persuasive move that i cant wait to start as a mage ( i never start a game ith a mage) plus the damn sexy armor:wizard:

It was also a cinematic trailer in case you hadn't noticed, not a gameplay trailer. Most of the stuff that happened in DAO's sacred ashes trailer was embellished as well.

i always play the thief/rogue/ninja/assassign/agility characters. they are my favorite and really suit my play style.

the class i always keep away from is mage. i find i'm good at it but i find it not to be as fun either.

I always gravitate towards the roguish archetypes in games, but in DAO I found myself constantly managing Morrigan to make use of all those nasty spells.

I've been a warrior since Dragon Age: Origins and I will probably continue that in DAII and any other sequels to come. Spin-offs also! And if Reaver is still available, I will do that too.

Definitely going to be a rogue(or mage or warrior). I love the whole sneaky stabby and run away with tail between legs before coming back for the crit hit super powered kill shot.
