I really want Fenris to be one, but I'm not sure.

I keep my fingerscrossed it won't be any companion but nondisclosed NPCs. If we are going to have a family i am certainly unsure if i would want my LI to be fighting along side me.

It was a different story in DA1, where the relationships were a bit more casual.. something that might develop in the heat of battle.. sharing life and death situations. But i certainly would not have wanted to see my LIs go to war along side my Warden if we had been together for 10 years or so. The urge to protect people i am that deep in love with far outweights my desire to have them next to me in battle. In a time of 5+ years i could surely find adequate replacement for her and not require her to go to war, even if i do. I'd rather know she is home and safe, even if i know she could easily hold herself on a battlefield, i would want to spare her that experiance.

That could be true, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I hope Fenris can go both ways.  <.< >.>

Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone thinks Fenris is bi. He really comes off as someone who'd be strictly hetero. My money's on the mage being available to both male and female Hawke.

I actually had that problem with Jaheira, in reverse

but luckily avoiding those ****ing sidequests that left my Baldur's Gate 1 comrades dead and making loooooooooooove to a Drow princess solved that problem

Yes, same sex romance was confirmed, but I still don't see why everyone is automatically assuming it's Fenris. We know almost nothing of him other than he was former slave and the like. Maybe it's the whole elf thing?
