If someone wanted to write in a romance for one of the characters, since Hawke is a conglomerate of everyone's work, I doubt he'd freak out and start screaming "F--- NO! IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY, B!TCHES!"

Not for that, certainly.

Normally I just glare and arch one eyebrow. I may or may not also stroke an evil-looking lap cat.

You're a mean one, Mr. Gaider.

But for some reason I feel that, at least for Pantless Chee, this would make her even more excited.

Pantless Chee: I want to double Isabela's boob size!
Dinosaur Gaider: *arch one eyebrow*
Pantless Chee: Make it four times, beyotch.

I'd bet the lap cat doubles marvelously as a blanket. It's winter and it's chilly, after all.

I'm not sure how the romances are decided but I doubt it's like that. It's probably planned out before the characters even get assigned a writer.

They're the only ones we know about. Devs said not all characters revealed are romances... so all six of them can't be romances.

We know about Bethany and Carver. We know about Sebastian. There are also bound to be characters that we meet up with over the ten years that are introduced to our party that we cannot romance. It's very odd for the "only" party members we have to be on the younger side and attractive/attainable. That's all I'm saying.

I don't reconize this expression. It's a good thing? Like when you scratch them and they make a happy sound?

I really hope Aveline is a romance option.. I mean, it's kind of implied in the new dev diary.

He means like you kill it and skin it and make a blanket out of the pelt.

"to skin" means taking the skin off, like for furs or leather.

So no, not happy. Not happy a-tall.

But that would mean getting rid of the calefactory system.

Varric-Bioware has expressed an interest for a dwarf romance option

The lead writer [Darth Gaider] thinks dwarf romance is squick.

Mary is writing Varic, if I remember correctly

But he's the lead writer.
Doesn't mean Varic is for sure not an LI, but it doesn't bode well for it.

That also doesn't mean that Gaider is a control freak. If someone wanted to write in a romance for one of the characters, since Hawke is a conglomerate of everyone's work, I doubt he'd freak out and start screaming "F--- NO! IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY, B!TCHES!"

Exactly. He could just think a dwarf romance is squicky because he's been forced to live through it during review sessions with Mary. *remains illogically hopeful*

Unless you skin it alive in which case it doesn't die but suffers horribly.

Hmmm, like the Cousland Warden's nephew being told he'll get to see a sword real soon?

You, sir, are a sick, evil individual.

Knew I liked you for some odd reason.

I'm gonna agree with the idea that making the narrator of the story a romance option would be a little difficult. "That is when we met... and this is when we fell in love! ... And this is where I became rivalry status. >( grrr"

It's probably nothing like that but there's my two cents.

P.S.  Good evening Mr. Gaider.

But if you think about it, every "choice" that Hawke makes has to be narrated a bit differently (for how it affects the story). Brian Bloom has tons of lines, regardless of whether or not he's voicing a possible LI. So I doubt they'd keep Varric out as a romance option just because of how it would affect the narration.
