Yeah try to do a little research at first.  Most are very willing to help  but asking every question that comes to mind without trying to look just makes these amount to spam threads.

srry guys :(. has they said why? wait! let me guess! Is it because they want to make the class more distinctive? Then how come a mage Hawke can use a staff/sword weapon?

The staff he's using in the trailer is special; the Staff of Parthalan.

Actually you can't have arcane warrior cause only the warden knows how to train mages to become one remeber the crystal was the last arcane warrior so storywise it makes alot of sense.

You can still wear armor as long as you meet the stat requirements. Which would mean investing points in strength. The devs have said they tried to make all the stats more useful but only time will tell if this is so.

Since the staff of parthalan is also a melee weapon, do u think a warrior could use it?

Nope, mage only. Mages in DA2 will attack with their staff in melee.

Not exactly, they can attack in melee but they can't don't have any special melee abilities. Don't be expecting to jump in the air and do other martial-like moves.

No there is one other Arcane Warrior. Remember that guy who drops Spellweaver?

"
If they did learn it" There is no if. They knew the spells.

" they are dead"
Yes but they learned it which means they got the info from somebody else and those people may still be alive and it stands to reason they passed their knowledge onto others. The skill may be rare, but that doesn't mean the Warden is the only person who possesses those abilities.

Solution, go through the game once with mage and another time with warrior. Best of both world. Anyway as for becoming AW, wasn't there a manual sold somewhere to unlock the Spec? I doubt it's all that exclusive to the Warden in the first place.

No. Mages can only do simple melee swings, nothing like in the CGI trailer

That elven mage's spirit was the last remaining arcane warrior in Ferelden, and in our game. Thedas does not end with Ferelden- there *could* be arcane warriors in Tevinter or other places. Who knows? If the devs wanted to bring the AW spec back- they won't find it hard to do so.

I chose my first playthrough on 2 things:

1. How cool Hawke looks (while the first outfit might look cool for Mage, the rest are just simple robes like in DAO)
2. Bethany or Carver ? (you get Bethany if you're a warrior/rogue, Carver if you're a mage)

If i can do certain melee attacks combined with magic with the staff of panthalan, i may have to choose the mage class

That's an assumption, and one not even supported by the game. There are other arcane warriors in the game. You fight several. One even being a Hurlock Emissary who uses 2 longswords.

Mages will be able to perform basic melee attacks but they will be probally getting there butts handed to them most of the time.

Edit: Though you might be able to shamble some kind of melee mage together depending on what talents we get or atleast thats what I am going to try, but keep your expectations low.
