I agree about DA:O. The graphics, in general, were god awful. For the most part ME2 had pretty good GFX though. I guess Miranda's face looked pretty ugly, but that was one tiny exception.

You must have very high standards my friend!

yeah.....humm...miranda's face didn't translate well.....even reviewers said that Bioware seems to have added "flaws" to it like the teeth and such

Chances are if you're playing a Bioware game, you're not just playing because it's pretty. I personally don't care and think the graphics are nice. I would also like to point out that I've just finished Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (which is a pretty good looking game) and when I first turned it on I thought "Oh. That's pretty." And moved on. When I was playing the game, I was interested in the actual game, not how realistic the table next to Ezio looked.

Okay guys, I need your help here becouse this has been bugging me. Am I the only one on the planet that think Dragon age looks good? XD People say bad graphics and I scratch my head wondering what they're talking about.

If it's pleasant to the eye= Good graphics to me. I dont need photo realism

dragon age had a good art direction but it was awfully dated when it came out. Yes a lot of people liked what they saw, hell I liked what I saw but if compared to other games out there even of the same genere and magnitude it looked generic and somewhat underwhelming

DA2 in comparison looks a lot better and I do dig the comicbook look

I agree something went missing. Others weren't so unfortunate, like Vanderloo and Samara's face model. Also, that's the way her teeth are:

Image IPB

They added flaws alright...her flaws. I think so they wouldn't upset her. As if they were saying "your teeth are all crooked and nasty, we're fixing them".

Personally, I think it was silly. She's genetically perfect with a dad obsessed with perfection, and he didn't have her teeth straightened?

I acually dont like that look XD I think Dragon age origins look better in style then DA2 but what can you do, it is how it is. No less, they both look good, graphically

CDP started developing TW2 after TW:EE was done which is September 16, 2008 (release date). And yes, making the engine from scratch...

I don't see a big difference:

They changed the lighting in the Lothering section since the new dev diary. It looks significantly worse than it does there at the moment.

Casey: so Yvonne......your teeth are crooked and, you know....Miranda is supposed to be perfect so we are fixing them in the game

Yvonne :crying: my......teeth?

Casey:wub: they  are  perfect........we will leave them as is

Interesting how all those "improved" models/textures for Leli/Morrigan all have FLAWLESS skin.

They look like plastic dolls, not real people to me.

I'd be also interested what genetically perfect means, since I am sure nobody who fits this descriptions exists, or ever will.

1: you misquoted
2: Miranda specifically says her father engineered her looks so that she would look "perfect" as well.....read stereotypically beautiful

The new screens, while still a little rough in spots, make me much more hopeful than I was after the 2nd "making of" video.

In that, almost all of the textures looked really bad and the lighting quality was all over the place. It has nothing to do with the art style at all, it just looked shabby.

I also have a few minor quibbles like Hawke's arms looking particularly polygonal in that video as well, but for all I know that's been fixed.

I simply want something on par with ME2. That is all I want.

I rest my case. B)

The modded Leliana does look much, much better.

Dragon Age ought to do something like Mass Effect where they give companions individual outfits and bodies, and spend the time to make each one look unique. I don't think all of them have to be attractive, but the second image strikes me much more as the playful seductress we know Leliana was before she left Orlais.

The modded Leliana is wearing five pounds of make-up, has flawless, shiny-smooth skin, and has a face very close to the generic blonde three-pig-tailed human PC. Nothing unique or special--just lots of make-up doing her work for her.

As it happens, I think vanilla Leliana looks more like the sacred ashes version than that mod version.

Bioware games generally look fine to me. The new game looks rather pretty. There is a big middle ground between cutting edge and awful, and pushing the edges of graphics technology isn't a priority to me as long as the game generally looks attractive, and that appears to be the case with the upcoming game.

ME1- good graphics, nice textures.
ME2- good graphics, poor up-close textures.
DA:O-decent graphics, good up-close textures. Armor looks great up close.
DA2 - fair graphics, poor up-close textures, especially in cut scenes. They don't just fall short of cutting edge, they are just plain bad. Maybe this will change by release.

Anyone confused by this, look up the following games:

TW2
Diablo 3
Dues ex: human revolution
Skyrim
Arkham city

I understand great graphics don't 'make the game', it just so happens most other games, no matter the genre, have great graphics.

Does everyone agree that the new 360 screens look significantly better than the PC footage in the last dev diary? Just askin'.
