Arkham city
I understand great graphics don't 'make the game', it just so happens most other games, no matter the genre, have great graphics.
I don't see how these games are comparable. Arhkam City is almost a work of art compared to pretty low quality stuff like TW2 and Diablo 3 (I mean this relative to the other games you're mentioning).
I haven't seen Skyrim, so I can't comment.
ETA:
Maybe it's the fact it's a magazine scan, but it doesn't look that high quality to me (compared to, say, ME2 or DA2, which IMO looks exactly like DA:O with a swapped art style).

Theses games are totally different (in terms of design and gameplay) so you can't compare them.

Now if only they could something about the empty environments...

I can only tolerate so much of those textiles. Mix it up a little. Mark a design into the ground or put in some trees or anything.

I'm not sure if this is a disagreement with me or not. Is flawless skin and well-applied make-up out of character for Leliana? Or, are you saying she's less attractive than the default model to you?

It's out of character for Leliana circa DA:O. There is actually a banter with Morrigain about this.

It's still crappy graphics. The DX11 support is minimal, it's clear this game is emploring very little with new age PC technology, in terms of tesselation and other DX11 features.
It's sad because, with the era and setting of dragon age, tesselation of rock surfaces and well dragon scales would really turn heads. It's too bad bioware is now under EA and no longer cares about the quality of the games they make.

I don't love BioWare games because of their stunning graphics, just like the reason I play them isn't the stellar gameplay either. Still they gameplay is fine and enjoyable, and the visuals are sometimes good enough to stop right there and look for a moment at a stunning panorama view. Of course I have my gripes, like the missing female animation rig in most of their games, but it's far above my personal standart where I'm no longer able to suspend my disbelief.
Still, I value plot, story, characters or dialogue far more then visuals, and as such I could enjoy even games like Alpha Protocoll. And Bio games look better then that.
Hey now....there's nothing wrong with Alpha Protocol's graphic. I'd say the animation is on par if not better than DA:O (Combat, and the PC's animation in general). It's only because it's an action game so Mike's stiff/goofy animation ook all the more ridiculous.
Yes, I concur. I'm replaying Alpha Protocol and was actually quite impressed with the graphics myself.

Mirandas father may have his own tastes ya know. She may be perfect as far as he is concerned.

Considering that is supposedly a courtyard where slaves were "processed" that screen shot makes that environment look very utility focused. (Look around any large place where utility is more important than aesthetics).

Well, it wasn't so much a 'yay' or 'nay'.
I agree that I could see Leliana looking a bit closer to that when she was a bard. Less plucking and glossing, though. But how she is in the game is fine. Can't say I'm a fan of her face, though. It still looks generic to me, a composite of "pretty". Hate her hair, especially. Too red.

Personally, I think it was silly. She's genetically perfect with a dad obsessed with perfection, and he didn't have her teeth straightened?
Do you even know what GENETICLY perfect means???<_<
...Well, it would mean "flawless", if such a thing could exist. Crooked teeth are a flaw. They're not supposed to be that way, it's just not a gigantic issue if they are.
In any case, I'm not saying someone genetically engineered has to be born without crooked teeth, I'm saying I imagine that's something her father would fix.

I'm thinking of the new screenshots, like the ones in the caves - the caves themselves look very polygonal to me (in the early 3D sense).

That reminds me: Half the time I couldn't hear those banters over the sound of my boots clacking. Hope the volume is raised a bit in DA 2.

I've flipped through the magazine images - I don't think they look that great. Bethesda always has (IMO) sub-par graphics. That's not their strong suit, and they shouldn't worry too much about it as they sell great with mediocre graphics.
Of the above list I agree that Arkham City is like at least several levels of "pretty" above all the rest. The rest of that list have me "meh", personally.
To be fair, I'm only moderately interesting in Arkham City (not a Batman fan, but Arkham Asylum was probably the most polished game I've ever played) and excited for Skyrim, but have little interest in Diablo 3 and no interest in Deus Ex nor The Witcher.
