Mage always... Mages have true power, and are master manipulators..
Warriors are just normals who whack people with their swords..

That's why for every mage who dies at the hand of a warrior/rogue, it feels that much more special.

Thats because those Mages don't know how to use rock armor.

I'll be going Mage for more personal ties to the plot, assuming it is Templar vs Mage.

Same here.  Plus, I think the character interaction will be especially interesting if you play a mage and the plot is along these lines.

My first playthrough will be with a Female Mage with Merril, Sebastien or Isabela, (if merryl is a LI bi it's sebastien if not is isabella) and Aveline, Fenris or Carver depends on with personality i found most interasting (possibility carver for plot sakes)

On my second playthrough will be a male Warrior with Bettany, merril and (Sebastien or Isabella depends of whom i choose the first time)

Yeah, I'm having the same doubt.

I like to use my table RPG characters in games, and I plan to use a D&D character who was a Fighter/Wizard.

He would be a perfect Arcane Warrior in Origins, but I couldn't create him and his beard (PS3, so no mods). Ironically, Hawke looks a bit like him, specially the beard. But the character has long hair.

I'm planning on making a Mage, but no Arcane Warrior in this game. :(

I need a badass black armor to make my character. Hopefully there's an awesome robe like the legendary one, but with more black. :P

Or maybe I go full warrior and get one of those!

Yeah, I like the customization aspect of things.

I believe he wanted to say that if he use a mage as PC he will not take mage in the party

I have to admit I'm a little worried about deciding which class to play as. I had a female warrior planned for one play through, but for my main one, I figured I would try to decided based on which combat mechanics I liked better between Warrior and Rouge. I'm hoping for something I can rush into battle against enemies with, all "championy" I guess it'll depend if I'm a fan of the rouge specializations.

Mage. Don't like the embarrasing fighting animation.

Probably mage, since that should be the one with the most distinct story progression. Warrior and Thief story progression is probably the same.

Im having a hard time desiding. I want to to play a Warrior with the cool moves and Bethany to protect but I also want to use Staff of Parthalan and Hawke's Mage Robes, and since they use Mage Hawke to promote the game, it makes me feel that it's the "real" Hawke an make's me  want to play that Hawke. (I'm saving Rogue Hawke for Lady Hawke)
So, who is going to be my "real" Hake?

Warrior Hawke:
+Bethany
+Cool Moves
+Mostly Meleé
-No Staff of Parthalan
-No Hawke's Mage Robes

Mage Hawke:
+Staff of Parthalan
+Hawke's Mage Robes
+DAII posterboy"
-No Bethany
-Mostly Ranged attacks

One idea I'm having is to wait untill my last playthrough before DAIII and then play my "real" Hawke, like I'm doing with Mass Effect. But that would mean using my "real" Origins saveimport on 2 playthroughs and it feals somewhat like a waste.

Anyone else got problem chosing?

Go for mage man!! Mage Hawke ftw!!!:D
Oh and to answer your last question. No I don't have a hard time chosing. I almost always play mages first. Especiallly if it makes sense to do so within the context of the story. And this time it does. Both sides of Hawke's family are known for producing power mages, so far be it from me to do otherwise. lol

Going to be a Sword and Shield warrior all the way across the sky. Bethany will be in my party and Merrill will be my LI.

Was going to be sword and board but changed to mage over a long, long period of time.

Seeing Carver in the latest vid sealed the deal.

I was thinking of having Merrill as my love interest too, though I would love an option to romance a human mage female.

I played as a rogue on my first DAO character, but mage is the class I have played most of all three and my first character in DA2 will be a female mage most likely. Why? I like the idea of having such powers at my fingertips that can be executed at whim and doesn't require any physical strenght to use.

I do like playing as assassin styled classes in RPG:s but sadly Bioware failed BIG TIME when they designed the leather armour in DAO. There only exist two different designs in the entire game and they look almost the same (varied colours excluded). I want to be a hooded prowler of the shadows a la Altair and Ezio not some bloke in uggly, barley covering the body and having an antique roman/greek skirt design looking armour.

I would say go with whatever class you most enjoy. I am going with mage for that reason. Early on I seriously considered switching to rogue. I wanted to see how Bethany would turn out. After my initial disappointment at the loss of my hoped for apostate sister team up, I realized I still rather play mage than anything else. They have the most versatility and get more cool toys to play with than anything else. That puts them miles ahead of other classes to me, even before considering any possible storyline ramifications.

As a rogue or warrior I will never be able to tell the laws of reality to shut the hell up and do what I say. B) Okay, maybe a little considering DA2's rogue and warrior animations, but you all get the point... :pinched:

Consider the following: TH warriors will probably be able to pull off one-attribute-wonder. STR governs their attack, damage and defence (enabling to wear heavier armour), and other stuff like "+stamina", "+magic resistance" can be found on items.

Mages priming Magic will find themselves at disadvantage against physical force (knocked down often) and general attacks (low defence and armour), low mana (percentile nature of sustainables), and who knows what else.

For the first time, go as a warrior and give Staff of Parthalan to Bethany.

Mage actually looks badass. But I think I will go female Rogue Archer first. Always have been since the old BG days.

I think I will give the mage a try but I must confess after looking forward to have a sister onboard I will mostly go for the warrior with some rogue experiments.
