I do like playing as assassin styled classes in RPG:s but sadly Bioware failed BIG TIME when they designed the leather armour in DAO. There only exist two different designs in the entire game and they look almost the same (varied colours excluded). I want to be a hooded prowler of the shadows a la Altair and Ezio not some bloke in uggly, barley covering the body and having an antique roman/greek skirt design looking armour.

There was a screenshot in one of the previews posted on the forum yesteray that showed a dual wielding rogue Hawke with the kind of look you described. It definitely made me think of the Assassin's Creed games, and makes me want to play a rogue Hawke with the assasin specialty immediately after I finish my mage Hawke playthrough.

Mage or rogue. Mages are poerful with good crowd control spells, but we also have Bethany from the beginning. Perhaps starting with rogue. Or a badhass 2h great axe warrior.

I usually play mages, but it wouldn't feel right that every templar is immune to spells and could kick the champion's you-know-what. That already annoyed me in Origins. Mages are useful, not exactly powerful in DA (or only until they meet a random templar). So I'll probably play a warrior. Rogue just doesn't seem to fit well with the whole "champion" story either imo.

Mage first. I always play as a mage and in this game it feels like the mages will have the most interesting interaction with the world since the game's Mages vs. Templars I feel the story will be more or less the same for a Warrior and a Rogue.

I don't know whether to play as a warrior or rogue. Which class would be better for continuous, action style gameplay? I'm looking for the class that gives you the least amount of "Press A once and wait till your enemies are dead".

Weapon is mostly for killing, and the safest way of killing is from a distance without beeing seen... and I dont like blood on my face, at least not in thise HIV days... so rouge fit me, no doubht about it. A bit more difficult... ok.

Mage always... Mages have true power, and are master manipulators..
Warriors are just normals who whack people with their swords..

A normal person doing great things is way cooler than a superhero doing great things. So probably rogue, maybe warrior if they have a lighter way of playing.

It's odd. Usually, I always swear by magic users, but this is one of those rare instances where I really find myself wanting to try the Rogue. I really like what I see with how the class was handled.

Well this time you won't have to worry so much about Templars. Sure they have some magic resist but now spirit element spells lower the chance of being resisted by half.. Crushing Prison, and Blood Wound ftw.

Hey Ive been reading what you guys have been saying, and by the looks of the trailer of DA 2, they could intergrated some kind of dual class system because mage Hawke was fighting like a warrior and using high damaging spells of a mage. Aswell as I have seen some art pics where hes uses his spells with his staff/halberd thing. If you watch the rise to power trailer he is once again using spells and melee combind.

Rogue looks so cool!

I`ll save mage for my 2nd playthrough (like DAO), I like to have a look at what all the spells are before I commit to making a mage for myself.

I have trouble deciding between mage and rogue. Rogue is my favourite class and I like the fact that rogues received more attention in DA2 (improved combat and all that).. but at the same time I have the feeling the story will be most interesting when you play as a mage (just my opinion build on the info we have so far, I could be completely wrong of course).

Mage
+ story seems to make more sense as a mage
+ staff of parthalan and dev vids look very nice when it comes to mages
+ feeling that Fenris will respond differently to a mage character
+ I look forward to the whole mages can do (sort of) melee attacks if they have to

Rogue
+ my favourite class, I like being able to pick locks, disarm traps and all that
+ Bethany (and no not because she is considered hot, but having a sister myself I would love to see how the writers did the entire sisterly relation thing... yes, I take roleplaying that far)
+ improved combat
+ dual-wield and archery talents (my second problem, no idea what kind of rogue I want)

I'm going warrior first, simply because I like to be in the forefront of the action and not hanging back casting spells or shooting arrows. I feel like I have a bigger impact on the battles that way.

Though, I do love to play as a rogue with two blades equipped as well, so rogue will be my second play through.

Mage LadyHawke first.  Then Rogue LadyHawke, then Warrior MaleHawke.... maybe.  Warrior's my least favorite class so I may even choose to not play one.  We shall see.

Gonna go for sword-n-board first; I felt bad that could never get into it in DAO, despite it being my favorite play style everywhere else. Plus, I get to knock people around with fadeshear and that sweet lion shield! That just sealed the deal for me.

I will play a mage then possibly a rogue. I hardly ever play the warrior. I did an all mage party in DAO with my main mage, morrigan and Wynne and we cut through most of the darkspawn like butter. Morrigan used the entropic line of spells, Wynne was the healer and used the glyph spells and my main used the destruction line of spells. I believe I had the game on hard setting.

I dont mind Beth not being in the party, im playing FemHawke Mage so Carver's manliness balances that out.

My only worry is that Mage robes still suck. Hawke's Mage robes look badass, just as Morrigan's personal clothes were... but all the others could look lame.

I feel the best class in DAO is the rogue/duelist, at least after level 10-15, when you can pick up all the skills, particularly coup de grace, whichever one lets you use cunning to determine damage, third level stealth, and momentum. I sent my rogue solo against entire squads of enemies, and just popped in with a backstab, stun, three or four more backstabs, and once he's dead just vanish.
