This has probably been posted before, but I actually never really post on the DA forums so I'm not sure. I'm going to pick up DA:O soon so I'm reading up on DA2.

I just realized that DA2 is coming out like...15-16 months after the first one...I mean COD games have longer development time than that :?

I'm worried about all those birds that died in Alabama... and the fish, the poor poor fish.

Not worried. I don't see Bioware sabotaging their new hit series by releasing a shoddy product. 15-16 months of development, with the groundwork and story already in place, with an efficient team- and we don't even know how many people are working on the game- I see nothing to worry about.

Nah. More worried about the story direction than the development time.

At first I was like "Noooooo" but then Bioware came and they were all like 'Garrrr" and then I was like "Yessss"... it can't go wrong with Bioware in my opinion, they've already had an established world and the engine is the same so.....

Bioware is no longer one studio.

They have 3 or 4 all working on different games.

They didn't have to make up an entire game universe again. Remember Thedas is The Dragon Age Setting ;)

The actual DEVELOPMENT time of the game is different from "how many months after the first is it coming out." In actuality, DA-II started development several months BEFORE DAO ever came out.

Yes no joke. This has been stated by Bioware devs NUMEROUS times, but yet again, it appears no one listens.

I am, I expect a pretty short game, normally I would be peeved, but alot of games are coming out in spring so that makes it easier to deal with it. Not to mention Deus ex (Although that's been delayed now :-( )

A lot of development time often goes into the engine, artwork, general direction the game goes etc.

All these are in place, they probably tweaked the engine a bit, but outside of that all they had this entire timeframe to actually focus on building the game, ie. 3d assets, voices and so on. It doesn't take that long if your team is big and dedicated enough.

Proof

It's the first thing out of their mouths.  Also remember DAO was pushed back 6 months and was basically finished as the console port were being done.

Also take into account that when Bioware first developed DA:O, they had to build a game engine, design the world of Thedas and make sure the combat system feels unique.

This time around, they just sticked with what they had and make improvements here and there, so it obviously takes much less time.

No. I'm not worried. DAO took a lot longer because they created the IP and the engine from the ground up, and it makes sense that their marginal costs would shrink for future installments in the series. Also, it seems clear that they have a lot of ambition on this sequel, and were pretty excited that the sequel was shaping up the way it was. The general impression I get is that they are releasing the game soon because things are working well for them, not because they are rushing.

Yea I find it funny how many times Bioware will specifically state something here, only to have everyone basically ignore it, and keep asking the same question over and over. And people wonder why Bioware stopped responding so much to these threads....maybe cause they're frankly getting SICK of answering the same question over and over.

The only thing I'm really worried about is bugs. Not even the smaller bugs where an item uses the wrong model or something, but big, story or import related ones. We've had a couple of those in the past. Other than that, I'm not really worried about anything.

Yeah, I'm worried. Even if it is a two-year cycle. I'm worried about QA, especially after DA:A which was a horror. But it's also something that's 100% unknown until release.

Tbh. I am a bit worried. That's why I didn't preorder. But I'll wait for the reviews and first impressions on the forum and then gladly pay more if I was wrong and DA2 rocks.
