Google search...

Huh.  Literally the first item:

"Bioware screws Steam users out of Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition pre-order deal."

Google Link

That would be helpful... but if I had the prescience to know that the users of Steam were going to be left out of this, why would I look it up?  That's a Catch-22.

I still haven't found the dev post... and, again, why would I even know to look for it unless I already knew that Steam would be the one client that didn't get the deal.  Again, Catch-22.

I still don't understand how it makes any sense for the largest digital download provider, one with a proven history of working to get the fans the games they want, is somehow at fault for this.

If I were to put any fault on Valve, I would at least say that they knew about the situation as well as Bioware and/or EA did. They could have made it known that they would not have the Signature Edition, too.

Google search has changed (obviously) as the SE has ended.
Forum searches, however, have not. type steam in the searchbar for the DA2 discussions. All your answers are there.

Maybe you would look for it because you can't find the preorder on steam?? Might be a bit of a giveaway. And even if the preorder for a SE had been made available on steam, you still would have been 3 days late

In Valve's defense, that would be a stupid business decision, as it would basically be saying "if you want the SE, you should go spend your money elsewhere."

Yes, I typed the wrong word.

Though if you bothered to look at their delivery list it *is* listed under their European countries. And therefore you'd pay that amount for shipping.

Again, if I am not told that the SE is not going to be available from Steam, why would I even need to look elsewhere?

Yeah, I let myself get into a digression by talking about it, but I only really responded because Switzerland is not part of the EU.

If I don't know that Steam - who controls over 70% of the digital download market - will have the SE, why would I think to look elsewhere.

And it's available now!  Literally the day after the SE sale was over.  That's one hell of a coincidence.

I don't understand why its so hard to understand that 2 major players in the market, who both want to put their own terms and conditions into any agreement, might fail to come to an acceptable agreement to both parties in the very short time frame that was required.

How is it my fault if I never even knew that I would have to use another service?  :pinched:

Who said I refused anything?

I was never even given the option to refuse.

So wait, is your complaint that it wasn't made available for steam? or that it was only made available till the 11/1?

Because if your defence is "Oh it didn't show on my steam server, so how was I to know?".....

discussion end/

But it was the truth. If they did not tell their customers because they didn't want them to go elsewhere, they were deliberately keeping their customers in the dark. Which makes the lack of information, which the OP was upset about, as much their fault as anyone else's.

The SE offer finished on the 11th not 13th, though yes, DA2 did come to Steam the day after the offer expired.

Actually, if you think about it, it's fairly logical.

The negotiations between EA and Valve obviously broke down before they could get the SE on to Steam (possibly due to the Christmas & New Year period, etc.), so they went ahead and at least managed to get the regular edition on there.

I was going to post "Were you waiting for an invitation to buy the SE?"

But then I realized that Bioware ACTUALLY sent out little reminder emails to buy the SE before the deadline.

What baffles me is that people know about the Signature Edition. They know they want it, they know all the shiny bonus features in includes - BUT they don't know the parameters for buying it. Knowing where to buy the product you want or when the deadline is to buy it before it becomes unavailable are the consumer's responsibility. Believe me, if Bioware/EA could send you reminder emails without you signing up first, I'm sure they would. But you are responsible as the consumer for doing the legwork to do product research.

This is not directed at the OP, this topic has been active for many days and just adding my 2cents.

When Steam had not added it to the list of games availiable for months why would you think they would be adding it?

When it has been a hotbed issue here and on the Steam forums/community where it was made clear weeks back it was never going to be on Steam why would wait?

What do you want? A personal email? The info was available well before the deadline if you searched.

Oh great now we get this chestnut again. I'll repeat what I've said before its quite likely that negotations broke down at some point last year at which time it was decided it was going to be too late to get the SE on Steam so they negotiated a standard agreement for the regular edition which was to be effective 12/1/11.  As soon as the deadline on the SE expires bang they and Valve are ready with the regular edition.

I can't speak for the OP or others, but the only email I received in regards to the SE was on Jan 7th telling me I had three days left, and unfortunately, I was out of town. After visiting the forums here, I discovered the offer has been around for three months, but then EA/Bioware should have sent out an email months ago, they shouldn't rely on people checking the forums every day.

You know,

If this is an hourly topic like people claim it is (I'm seeing no evidence of this on the front page) then why not make a sticky addressing the issue? It could even say that further threads will be locked down. I wouldn't have posted if there was clear evidence that this was an issue, which it appears to be.

wrong. a troll tries to trick and decieve and get some sort of reaction out of you. usually through getting you pissed or insecure about yourself.

ways of trolling include but not liimited to: pretending to be a girl online when you're actually a guy, being something like a schoolyard bully, and pulling pranks

You troll! (cool canadian userbar though)

ot: if I wasn't such a Bioware fanboy I wouldn't have known about the signature edition. Even if you would check the months minus 1 day before the release date you just wouldn't be on time. And really, most SE's are closer available to the release date.

There was, but it degenerated into people using expletives against bioware instead of actual discussion. So lock, and unsticky

Seriously I dont understand why everyone is attacking the guy. It is confusing that Steam isn't getting the Signature edition for some reason.

But to be fair LordPaul, we don't know whos fault this is. It could be EA's or Valves. Hard to tell. I don't really think its Biowares fault.

Also I don't think Steam isnt selling Signature editions to be mean. I mean from a company stand point would they want to have the same products their competitors have? In this case the signature edition thats being sold elsewhere.

Theres more here than meets the eye. I know Steam charges heavily for companies to sell on their platform. Like strippers at a strip club. Maybe a deal couldn't be worked out.

In any case an official answer would help clear things up!

Well... kind of.

It comes from trolling, which is a kind of fishing where you pull bait through the water.

They post something negative/inflammatory (pulling bait through the water) to see if they can get anyone to react.

So
why not keep the sticky locked, as well?  Like, the second it was posted.  I don't mean to be a jerk, but it's not exactly a foreign concept in online forums.

Is it any surprise that this has become an "hourly post" when, A) people are really upset about this and, B) there's no evidence on the front page that anyone else has posted about this?

Why would anyone sell on Steam if it would cost them extra money?  I can't imagine Steam became a powerhouse from convincing company after company to release games for their DDS at an extra cost.  It would also not explain the constant sales in the slightest.

I mean, thank you for not attacking me, but that last little part you posted just seems off given my information.  If you have a link that proves otherwise, I am always willing to know more about these things for future discussions.

*Edited because the post came out Xbox HUGE for some reason*
