Why would anyone sell on Steam if it would cost them extra money?
Probably for the same reason that retailers accept credit cards.

Because it's now one of the largest digital distribution platforms out there and even if Valve are taking a hefty cut, with the potential in additonal sales some companies will deem that worthwhile.LordPaul256 wrote...

Why would anyone sell on Steam if it would cost them extra money? I can't imagine Steam became a powerhouse from convincing company after company to release games for their DDS at an extra cost. It would also not explain the constant sales in the slightest.
I mean, thank you for not attacking me, but that last little part you posted just seems off given my information. If you have a link that proves otherwise, I am always willing to know more about these things for future discussions.

An age old practice where if the common folk ever found out how business worked we might become educated buyers instead of impulse buyers.

So
why not keep the sticky locked, as well? Like, the second it was posted. I don't mean to be a jerk, but it's not exactly a foreign concept in online forums.
Is it any surprise that this has become an "hourly post" when, A) people are really upset about this and, there's no evidence on the front page that anyone else has posted about this?

Quick question since I don't want to make a new topic. Will the normal DA2 version ( http://www.thehut.co...2/10225748.html ) contain the Black Emporium dlc and the weapon/shield? Because on that site, they don't make it clear and I want to buy it over there(since it's supercheap like hell...)

Walmart has long been accused of similar tactics. I wouldn't all be surprised if that turned out to be the case. Over the holidays I noticed that EA offered a substantial discount for Mass Effect 2 than Steam.
As far as I know, yes, it should do.Reinnaert wrote...

Yes, all preordered copies will include the weapon and shield, and all new copies the emporium
Despite having a .com address, thehut is a UK company. So it would not make much sense in Reinnaert's case to order from a US retailer.thepiebaker wrote...
and im sure that if you pre-ordered from anywhere that likes to give exclusive DLC promotions such as walmart or gamestop then those places will also give an extra bonus pre-order item ontop of the sword and shield

And good choice of retailer, I ordered my SE from them (I have often had pre-orders arrive a day or two early in the past from them)
Edit:'d... twice.

Ill see if I can dig up more info on how game companies sell on steam. Its tough to find and game companies won't admit it. I'll see what I can find. When I switched to Google chrome all my favorites went wacky.
And theres no reason to attack you. Its odd that the SE isn't on Steam. I don't plan to buy it from steam in anycase. Its $10 cheaper on Impulse. But its still weird they wouldn't offer it.

WHAATTT they had the SE?
and it is indeed a good retailer. Going to buy DA ultimate edition(don't have certain DLC and it's just too awesome and handy) and DA2 together and it'll only cost me €57 o.o.
and thanks for the replies everyone

That article says nothing about Steam charging extra. In fact, every developer and commentator commentating on that article points out that those 5 issues aren't true. The article writer even admitted it:
"I think my concern was very much about what Steam could become, rather
than what it is. Google used to be the hero of the tech world, but is
now fast becoming the demon - I wanted to warn that the same might
happen to Valve.
~ Nicholas Lovell06/02/2010 01:19 PM in reply to Jon"
Again, I would love real numbers or evidence. That make come across as sarcastic, but I also work in the business industry. That article was pure speculative journalism. Interesting read, guaranteed to get comments, little in the way of actual evidence to support conclusions (which the writer even has to admit).
