But it may be elsewhere on Vista or XP.
One of these values should be your CD key. What I need to know is the name of that registry key. (Don't tell me the value, of course; I have my own CD key, and you don't want to put yours out on the net). If there are any other registry keys in that folder, or in the Dragon Age folder above it, I'd appreciate knowing both the name and value of those too.
Full explanation below if someone's actually interested in my technical woes.
------------------------------------------
I recently installed Windows 7 (64-bit) and I'm now trying to re-install Dragon Age. (Ultimate Edition from Impulse.) I'm using a "Standard" user account in Windows 7, which I was worried might cause some problems, but I have the admin password and have been granting it to any installation program (e.g. Impulse) that brought up a UAC prompt during the installation.
I'm able to get in to the game and log in to my EA Account, but the problem is that all my DLC does not even show up as being installed. I don't just mean it shows up as unauthorized, I mean it doesn't even show up as installed - i.e. it is under the "available downloads" tab, or whatever it's called. (Which I guess may mean it at least recognizes I own it? But I'd rather not have to re-download all of it, especially if this may lead to activation issues down the road.)
Impulse did bring up the activation window as the final part of the installation process, and I entered my DAO Ultimate CD key just as it asked. It closed with no message, but I assume that means everything went fine as far as it knew.
The first break I've found here is that my CD key is missing from the DA Config tool, as described here. Not having a disc version, I could not follow the instructions exactly to the letter. I was able to accomplish what I believe it was suggesting by navigating to \\\\\\\\Dragon Age Ultimate\\\\\\\\software\\\\\\\\ where I had installed the game, and running the Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition_code.exe file found there.
This executable does not seem to do anything when run. No pop-up to enter my code appears as that linked post says, and when. The program does bring up a UAC prompt when it appears, which I grant, and I have tried setting it to run as administrator prior to running it. Nevertheless, no window ever appears when I run that .exe; and, unsurprisingly, the DAO utility still does not display a key in the Games tab.
At this point I've given up on the official activation executable and I'm now hoping to edit it in to my registry myself, but that linked post unfortunately has no instructions on how to do so. I did find this post which specifies this path for Win7 64-bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\\\\\Wow6432Node\\\\\\\\Electronic Arts\\\\\\\\Electronic Arts\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\ergc
This confirms that something is amiss with the CD key activation, because while this folder structure exists, right down to the ergc folder, there is only the standard Default-named, blank-value key in the ergc folder and in the Dragon Age folder above it. However, since they are blank, I have no idea what key(s)/key names I need to use to add it in manually.
Edit: I should mention, before someone asks, that I have confirmed that the DAUpdater service is installed, and I observed it in Running status in between closing & running Dragon Age itself.
