I've gotten to Redcliffe Castle, and killed the darkspawn to the point that no more darkspawn come to the castle, but the game refuses to let me go further, I know that there's supposed to be a guard to talk to, but I cannot talk to any of the guards in front of Redcliffe Castle. Unfortunately I don't save a lot and my most recent save would lose me my quest with the Dalish Elves, and everything at the Landsmeet and I've have to redo all of that. I'd like to know if this is a bug, or if there's a way around this guard?
Can't continue in Final Battle.

Number 1 rule with RPG's: ALWAYS save frequently. I can not stress this enough. Fortunately for you, you still have auto saves. The game always auto saves at certain points. You COULD load the auto save.
Other than that you could try to run around, especially TOWARD the gates, because sometimes, while you might think you've killed everything, more will come. I believe the guard is not supposed to talk to you until after you kill an Alpha Ogre, as I recall. If you have killed it, then it seems the game glitched and you will have to load the auto save.

The game can be sllllooooowwww. Sometimes it takes a while for it to register that everything is dead and the messenger needs to show up. Just wait around a bit. If nothing happens run back toward the gates. More darkspawn might spawn. Still if nothing happens then you might be glitched.
