My situation is still the same. Play just replying to my emails with a) the product is no longer available and B) stock issues. Phoning is just as bad but it costs too. Out of interest (and if you happen to read this) have you had any luck ToAoM?

Hey I also ordered mine from play.com on the 22/10/10 no e-mail for me yet and I hope I dont get one. From reading these messages it seems to be the later you ordered it they cancel yous first.

Sounds like they had a **** up with them having to remove the item from the site inorder to place the normal edition on there. Lesson, this kinda deal is a bit dumb, instead Charge 5 quid more call it collectors and let people buy it when THEY want.

EDIT: On a side note, you might have them on False Advertising and could go to trading standards as they not only accppeted your order but failed to inform you off its cancellation until the possibility of ordering it from their competion had expired.Image IPB

Play.com has stopped replying to my emails. And phoning to the UK is too expensive... Two of those calls and I had better just bought the DLC's...

I received an email from them a couple of days ago.

I am extremely sorry to hear that you are not entirely satisfied with your
recent experience of using Play.com. Our intention is for every customer
to enjoy helpful and efficient service and we sincerely apologize if this
has not been achieved on this occasion.

It saddens me more to hear that your recent experience with our Customer
Support Team was unsatisfactory and can appreciate how this may have
diminished your confidence in Play.com as a whole.

I assure you that we do take feedback like this very seriously, and would
like to thank you for taking the time to draw it to our attention. I
suspect this is due to a lack of appropriate care or attention, a case of
a genuine error, but nevertheless the individual in question will be
spoken to very seriously in regards to the incident.

With regard to the item, we shall contact our supplier and try to rectify
the situation however I can not assure you that we would still be able to
sustain your order.

In addition to that, we could not find any reason except for stock issues
in regards to the cancellation of your order. Why latter orders were
completed, we could not find spicific details and as much as we would like
to satisfy your query, this is the least that we can do.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have
caused you and thank you for your patience and valued custom.


I am happy they have at least given me a more detailed response to my questions then they have before. However they are still saying that it is due to stock issues that my order was cancelled. From what members of Bioware have written on the forum and have told me directly this should not be the case, so not quite sure how to respond. It seems to be what they are sticking with. They also won't (or say they can't) tell me about people that have said that they ordered the same product after I did and yet retained their order.

A small progress but still no nearer to getting it solved. :(

At least they're not totally ignoring you, but that e-mail kinda makes it sound like they're just blowing smoke. It super- sucks that this is happening, but I'm glad you posted it on here, I will NEVER order from play.com again, and since that's who I usually go through, I thanking my lucky stars I decided to take the huge hit on postage and order from Amazon.

Otherwise, you might as well look into scoring either The Irons or the Amulet of Ashes instead?

Wow I must have been in cryostasis! Gotta try out Dragon Age 10 ASAP!

Joking aside, I think this is some real bad business practice on play.com's part. I'll be sure to never use them, still it totally sucks to have this happen to you :unsure:

Wow, this really sucks. I know that it's not going to help your situation out any, but as a few other people mentioned earlier in the thread, you guys who've been burned by play.com, either on this issue or other issues, should get the word out about their less-than-stellar customer service. Maybe send a tip to The Consumerist (www.consumerist.com) or something. At the very least maybe other people can learn from your experiences and stop giving play.com business. :(

I was talking to play.com customer services and they told me that there now out of stock and there’s a chance that I won’t be receiving a copy of the SE.

Personally it will be a miracle if anybody gets a copy of the SE from play

I have been messaging Chris Priestley and he has stated that this is not true. He says there are enough copies of the game and there should be no cancellation. The only problem is the people i've spoken to from Play don't seem to have gotten this message.

Well if Chris said that then there’s more than enough but Play are too stupid to realise this and are just cancelling orders out of stupidity and total ignoranceImage IPB, and then we either have to buy the SE of ebay etc or settle for the normal edition either of which will still cost us extra money

I order on the 30/11/2010 so most likely you wont but with the way play works you never know

I did the same, except I switched to Game since they have free delivery.

That said, I'm really not impressed by Play here, and after hearing this I also cancelled a pre-order I had with them of a different game.

 Wow this sucks, will admit this isn't the first time this has happened with me with Play.com. Before I ordered a copy of Soul Caliber IV and they told me 3 weeks later that it was out of stock and they couldn't send it to me. I only chose to buy with them again because of an issue I had with Amazon and the lack of an account with Game.com (Also, in hindsight, I would of lost out on 2 dlc with Amazon.uk). 

Hopefully my order will not be cancelled, I would advise you continue to bug them about it though, they will eventually actually look into it rather than keep blowing smoke. If you can, try sending a letter, I wouldn't advise phoning since alot of the time, the person on the line isn't really qualified to speak about the situation.

Usually play are great like I got my Dragon Age Awakening’s and Mass Effect 2 a day early of their respective release dates but this is quite off putting I rather have been told there was no more in stock than my order might get cancelled but we don’t know for sure.

I feel sorry for lovebugs and ToAoM more as theirs is actually cancelled and arent actually getting the answers they deserve

Wow thanks for posting this, I usually buy everything from play. I only chose another site because it has faster delivery. After hearing this it's amazon from now on.
