Hmm well congratulations...but am I the only one here who thinks naming their child after a video-game character is a bad idea ?
Well, it's better than someone else naming your child after a video-game character, don't you think so Yoshi?

We thought Leliana was a beautiful name for a baby girl. Robin Williams named his daughter Zelda...

Or, alternatively, a strong independent woman.
Congratulations to you both

On this note, did any of you ever read the Star Wars Insider? They gave the background charater T-1B his own colum once, where he took questions from readers. One time he was asked about naming your kids after Star Wars characters, and did this riff on "Dengar won't quit crying, and Emperor's Royal Guard got in a fight at school".Beaner28 wrote...

True, after the princess. But the princess is named after a writer, Zelda Fitzgerald.

Just hope she doesn't have to be betrayed as many times to become one.
In any event, Leliana is a lovely name, regardless of the geekiness behind it

Also true. But Bioware didn't invent the name Leliana either, so I don't really see the difference.

Well, as long as it's a pretty name, and Leliana certainly is one, I think it doesn't matter. I mean, it's not as if they had chosen to name their kid Sonic or Rayman ! And Leliana's not the title character, so it's subtle enough, I mean, sure, some of us old-time gamers will remember who she is, but considering how fast video games evolve, I'm pretty sure none of her schoolmates will get that reference (and if someone does, it will be a retro-gamer, so if anything I would think they'd respect that name rather than make fun of it). Most names come from biblical characters, planets or whatever and it's irrelevant to us ; what really stays in the end is the sonority, isn't it ?
@Victia : I just checked what a Mexican redknee is and I'm horrified !!! Does it look like little Morrigan's using "overwhelm" when she's feeding ?

I'm not finding anything that says the name is real. Liliana comes close, but Leliana is only on one site, and it has no meaning or etymology, and it's conceivable a fan added it.

If I had a child, I would name him/her Eleison or Nox, so I'm really fine with Leliana :innocent:
