we decided to name our baby Leliana after everyone's favorite bard.

My favorite bard is the one from Asterix.

Um... congratulations on spawning an offspring...

...but make sure you don't tell the kid she's named after a video game character. Somehow I have a feeling that wont turn out too well.

Or, alternatively, a strong independent woman.

Congratulations to you both :)

...who kills people. There is no alternative to being a murderer.

Not all killers are bad people (take Dexter for example :P).

He admits he's a monster (but lets not derail into a morality discussion).

Anyway, congratulations. It works because it doesn't just function on a fan level, it's a good name.

Congrats!

People might find it odd, but considering where you and your wife met AND that it's a pretty name, I think it was a great choice. :)

Actually, you're wrong. In season 5 he murdered an innocent man due to being pissed off about Rita's death. That's pretty bad.

Kids: "Hey Leliana, someone locked the class room and forgot the key..."

Leliana: "...and? What do you want me to do about it?"

Kids: "Well...eeeerm, we just thought, you know, it's the kind of things, that you can take care of, you know"

That's sweet.

I wonder if anyone would get the urge to name their daughter 'Morrigan' now. XD

Congrats! I think it's fine to name children after fictional characters, but I may be biased since my younger brother is named Thorin. I think the only time it can get bad is if it's easily recognizable as being a fictional character's name, especially if it's a "nerdy" one--like, say, Spock.

I can see Morrigan being an interesting variation on Morgan, which is a pretty popular name for girls right now...and that really annoys my 12 year old nephew, who keeps meeting girls with his name.  :P

Congratulations! And you picked a beautiful name indeed!

<grabs cake and puts it on table>

Now here's the cake... And let me tell you this:
The cake is delicious... you must eat it!

To be quite honest, if I would ever get a daughter, I think that Leliana would be on the list of possible names. But that ain't gonna happen for a long time, so there's no need for me to think about it.

At any rate, I hope she'll get very lucky. Hopefully as lucky as Leliana got... =]

Congratulations! Little girls are a true joy in this world (says a proud Papa). Leliana is a beautiful name.

For the detractors, I suspect they are too young to remember people being named "Moonbeam Starchild" or "Forrest Winds" (both real names of people I know). Leliana is far from the weirdest name the little lady might have.
