Eh, get back to us when she's a teenager and finds out she's named after a video game character people can have sex with.
and one that prefers women to men

Congradulations.
pretty much, works nicely as an uncommon name and has the extra geek bonus for people who'll get it

Really? Odd-- we couldn't find any references other than a Hawaiian name which was close.
Even so, congrats to the OP. There was a fellow at PAX who showed me pictures of his twin girls, who they named Leliana and Morrigan. I thought that was delightful (after he confirmed it was his wife's idea, that is). Thing is, in 20 years once they're grown up the fact that the names came from a video game will be kind of irrelevant.

And Gaider, I think you aren't seeing the effect Origins had on RPG fans... it will be strong for years to come.

Last month in December before the New Year, my wife and I were blessed with a baby girl. With the release of Dragon Age II on the horizon and considering the fact we met each other at the BioWare E3 booth, we decided to name our baby Leliana after everyone's favorite bard. So I decided to post this to see if anybody else has had there life changed or improved thanks to Dragon Age. Once again, thank you BioWare!
Wow congrats i'm happy for your new family and hope you recieve more blessing this year!!!

Nice caveat there David.
Also to the OP. Congrats on the sprog. I've got 2 sons myself, although they just have normal Icelandic names.

Not if I name my child Archdemon it won't- and I intend to- unless my girlfriend can think of something more cool.

That is a name I usually think of in context with 50-something, balding and slightly corpulent men.

Well, at least the kids aren't named Cloud Strife or Waluigi or Sol Badguy. When the origins become irrelevant at least they're left with nice sounding names xD
Indeed - there are video game char names wich are bound to bring the 'Boy named Su(zanne)' effect
(song by Jonny Cash). down upon the poor baby girls or boys.
It is like with the Tolkien and new age related namings of the 1960ies and 70ies.
Not surprising poor 'Moonchild', 'Dreamweaver' and 'Gandalf' had their names changed to Jessica,
Sarah & Peter and that asap...

Heavy risk but the..
I don't know, I found myself quite attached to all of the Origins characters (and novel characters like Maric and Fiona). My husband and I will be naming our first child Alexander or Alexandria and if it's a boy, well, Alistair is the same thing basically in a shorter form. Granted, it's a more common name than either Leliana or Morrigan if you live in the Commonwealth, but still. I can see lots of Bioware character names inspiring future baby names (if they haven't already started to do so).

Actually Alexandria [Al Iskandariya] is not a ruined city and one that I happen to live in till the very moment
