The 'PS3 Exclusive Content Clarification Thread' states that the interactive comic will be a Cerberus Network download.

That's fair enough. Now, for my question.

In the UK, when games are pre-ordered online they tend to arrive the day before release. So in this case, it's likely that pre-ordered copies of Mass Effect 2 will arrive on Thursday rather than Friday.

If someone gets their game early, will their Cerberus Network work even though it's a day early? It's for the comic more than anything else. I already play ME2 on the xbox but I have the PS3 version pre-ordered as a gift for my friend and i'd quite like to see the comic when she plays it.

So can we download this if the game arrives early or is it not going up until Friday? (Or is Cerberus Network not region locked since the Americans get it on Tuesday).

I got mine this morning. I'll tell you if the Cerebus Network works after lunch.

I just found out that the Cerberus content will not be available until tomorrow afternoon.

God dammit Bioware. Why not just put the ****ing comic on the disk? Everything is DLC these days.

Lemme guess, I gotta pay for it?

My thoughts exactly on the comic, (which I think sucks, but it is a lot better than having to drive the Mako around for 20 hours just to change girlfriends.)  We shouldn't have to pay for any of the Cerberus content, you get a code when you buy the game.

Did you seriously just call Mass Effect 20 hours of Mako driving?

While I obviously don't agree with this, Mass Effect 2 was called 20 hours of dumbed down shooter.

I should have clarified, 20 hours of Mako driving, which sucked + 10 hours of fun play and a great story.

edit:
My feelings on ME1: The story is one of the best in Video Games, the combat is pretty good, but the driving the Mako is boring, annoying and frustrating, especially on the cookie cutter side missions.  I loved playing the game a couple of times, but the tediousness of driving the Mako gets old when I play it the third and fourth time just because I want to see how different choices change the outcomes in ME2.  I also agree that ME2 is just a shell of a game if you don't experience the first Mass Effect.

Hmm. So, it's pointless to purchase ME2 just after midnight CST because the interactive comic, which to me is key to enjoying the game (after all, it gives you a choices to make WRT ME1), won't be live until sometime Tuesday afternoon in North America?

If so, good grief. Well, I guess I'll just have to tide myself over again with MAG.

That's what the customer service lady told me when I called after my cerberus network code didn't work (My preorder came this morning).  She said that Sony doesn't update their stuff until around noon PST.  I hope she's wrong.

*sigh* That sounds about right, unfortunately. Sony only updates their store once a week, and it's typically Tuesday afternoons PST.

What's the point of playing ME2 before Tuesday night, then? Heh. I guess it *doesn't* pay to go to these midnight releases.

It's kind of silly, really. The interactive comic contains choices PS3 players can make, whose ramifications are then imported into ME2. Without the comic, and if you want to play ME2 right away, what happens, choice-wise?

In that case, then it's MAG tonight, ME2 on Tuesday night/early Wednesday after I get off work.

Judging from the posts i've read Sony dropped the ball (as usual), Microsoft was ready for the midnight launch a year ago so I had no issues then activating my Cerberus network card

way to go Sony

Agreed.

He's exaggerating.

I'd say it's about 35 hours.

Apparently in the world that Sony lives in, folks wait until 3 p.m. PST Tuesdays to purchase and use new games and/or online content.

What's really silly is that Sony had two big releases today, and they still made people wait.

I managed to download a few hours ago unfortunately I started to play before I got the down as it was taking way too long to Download. Now I have but it did not install right away so I have to start a 3rd time to see if it works. Not sure why every new game has DLC issues on day 1 or 2 or for awhile, have they not learned that they should have all setup prior to game release and have all the networks ready for the massive on onslaught of users
