What did you choose to do, and why?

Saved it on my main Shep because even though it's a terrible place I can't simply throw all the potential knowledge away.

Btw...

Paragon vs. renegade war in 15 posts or less.

Paragons are dumb. You should have kept the base.

Renegades are dumb. You should have destroyed the base.

Both sides of the argument covered. Moving on.

I kept it once to see what happens. Otherwise I destroy it. I don't trust Tim, I don't completely trust the alliance and I don't trust the council.

I'm a Paragon, and admittedly i'v destroyed the base every time before now.

However, upon further analysis of my decisions I have decided to keep it this time around. Its too valuable and if TIM tries to use it for only his ends, I will end him.

If possible I only plan to use it to stop the Reapers, and then destroy it.

I destroy it. I just don't trust Cerberus, and knowing Shepard, she/he can fight it and win, without it. I can see the logic behind keeping it though, just in case you need it and all, but you'd have to trust Cerberus, and I don't.

My Shepards, aren't going to hand over something that powerful to Cerberus, they're not stupid, they know what TIM will do with it. So, thus make it go *BOOM!!!*

Oh, and the tell TIM to f*ck off and shove it. They cut all ties to Ceberus, got rid of the base and stole the Normandy. One hell of a way to quit, huh?

These are my renegade Shepards too, they only act paragon on certain points, this was one of them, one of the very select few.

I destroyed it.

I didn't trust the Illusive Man to utilize it properly. I also didn't have enough faith in him to take any sort of precautions against indoctrination, which all of this Reaper tech is known for.

And if I HAD lost people during the Suicide mission, it would feel like a betrayal to me.  They would die believing they were trying to destroy the base, and going around and deciding to keep it after that sacrifice seems like kind of a jerk move.

But, I don't lose people so that doesn't really matter.

Cerberus does not have the competence, resources, or motivations for me to consider leavig it with them.

They have proven, time after time, that they have no bloody clue how to keep a dangerous project from becoming a disaster.

They have proven, time after time, that they are not working for the betterment of all, or even that of humanity, but for TIM's deranged vision of what humanity should be.

Destroyed it...TIMs "human dominance" line was the deal breaker for my paragade shep...no desire to see the other races subverted.

I'll contribute before this thread inevitably erupts into a Paragon vs Renegade debate, and state that I always destroy the Collector Base. Cerberus simply cannot be trusted, and to grant such an inept organisation the ability to use potentially dangerous Reaper technology is foolish, I believe.

Nigh on the anniversary of ME2 release, I wonder if this discussion will ever lose it's legs?

Kept it. It's literally going to be raining Reaper tech in ME3. Everyone is going to be on equal footing (or dead) by the time the war is over.

Giving the base to TIM just means that he'll get a head start on reverse engineering the Collector's tech. Tech we may be able to use in ME3 against the Reapers.

Well on my first playthrough I have destroyed the base. MY canon walkthrough has the base destroyed (ultimate paragon), but on other 5 saves I've covered base destruction or saving no matter if I played Paragon or Renegade.
Although after saving the base 2-3 times (I don't remember exactly;p) I had talked TIM to use it against the Reapers.
If he turns against entire galaxy after Reaper war, I'll simply take him down.
I'm just curious how this works in ME3.

^^ This in triplicate.

I don't believe for one second that TIM has humanity's best interests at heart, but rather his own self-serving interests. He is able to use "humanity" as an excellent cover (or bonus) for his ideals and goals, but when you boil it all down; he's just an ambitious and selfish bastard that wants to take control of the galaxy. He's no better than a Reaper himself, in my eyes.

Consider this...Once Shepard (if the council is allowed to die at the end of Mass Effect 1) sets things up for their to be an "all-human" council, he has already effectively gotten all that he claims he wants...humans have at that point gained dominance of the galaxy...Remember that the council is "The HUB" of the galaxy. All important decisions that affect it go through them. Period. In fact their Spectre's are allowed to pretty much do whatever they want with little to no restrictions in most cases...That is power.

Does TIM relinquish his mantra at that time?...no...it's the same as it always was...even though humans "have" dominated. He wants to be the one to call the shots, his way...plain and simple.

I kept it, let Cerberus us the tech to help defeat the Reapers (I don't think, and would be highly disappointed, if Shepard could take on the whole Reaper fleet). Then if Cerberus turns on the rest of the alien species after the reapers are destroyed, wipe them out.

So you're Shepard ends up as a tool? Mine is going to kill TIM the first chance he gets. Im pro-human but that doesn't mean TIM isn't a freaking pragmatist ****. He's out of his mind. Also, my Shepard is going to take over Cerberus. It's only the logical conclusion.

My Shepard doesn't want to sit on a thrown he wants to be out in the field, being in charge means way to many sacrifices and is basically a desk job. My shepard wants to be ther when the Quarian fleet is escorted into a black hole, the Asari homeworld is firebombed and for the Turians... Their homeworld will be used to test my new Death Star. Being a emperor is my retirement plan 25 years down the road when I am too old to lead my legions!
