I can see value in keeping the base, but I fear that there is no way to keep the Illusive Man away from a base that houses so much Reaper technology.

For this reason, I almost always destory the base unless playing as a Pro-Cerberus Shepard.

Keep it every single time. All for winning this war and humanity being the most dominant. If the Illusive Man decides to get in my way, I'll kill him. Anyone else - I'll kill him too.

Well, this IS a video-game.  Real-world morality doesn't apply here.

Mass Effect universe morality applies when you're roleplaying a decision from Shepard's point of view. In this case, it isn't all that different from real-world morality.

What if your shepard is insane and thinks that the whole world is some digital simulation? Coming back to life messed him up.

I've never kept it so far. It just seems like TIM is gonna do something bad with it...like make another human reaper but controlled by humans this time.

I saw the renegade ending on youtube and his face at the end does not seem very paragon intentioned. His whole stance on human dominance in the galaxy also has me thinking he wouldnt mind wiping out the other races with or without the base.

Then that means you're not a good role-player.

Correct.  Thus role-playing.

well i chose both options...

I dont like the idea of cerberus having the station.. after i beat the reapers i dont need some super secret organization pulling puppet strings in the systems alliance. We need to be in control of our own ****, cerberus isgonna keep all that tech not shepard

I've been discussing this in another thread, but this article pretty much says everything I think about the final decision:

www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/ (scroll down to "The Final Choice" if you don't want to read the opening)

Ignoring the fact that the 'choice' is horribly contrived, if you don't keep the base, you have accomplished absolutely nothing in terms of finding a way to stop the Reapers.

I blew up the base because:

1) I don't like Cerberus

2) I don't trust Cerberus not to use Collector technology to attack the galaxy

3) I don't trust Cerberus to run a project that doesn't end in atrocities and/or horrible failure

4) All the crew members, even those who work for Cerberus, think keeping it is a bad idea

The fact that those points mention Cerberus rather than the reapers easily shows why your logic is flawed.

You have to remember, this base was primarily Collector tech, not Reaper.

Destroyed the base, remember what happen at the Derelict Reaper. I didnt want something like that primarily happening again. I figure whatever isnt totally trashed from the explosion TIM can have lol. But than i did give him the middle figure at the end of the game too lol.

I also dont trust TIM

Saren was ignorant of the dangers, Shepard and Cerberus aren't.

I have to admit, that decision took me a minute or two. The Illusive Man makes a good point, but it comes down to the simple fact that I just don't trust Cerberus. But I'm super curious why the sun he's sitting in front of for the whole game turns blue at the end if you blow up the base. If you keep it, it's still redish. That I am dying to know.
