Hello everyone!
A while back, I started organising a collaboration project among the Thane fans to let our support for a cure for Thane be known. 4 months and 96 Shepards later, I am pleased to show you the final result!

Every one of these artists have drawn their own Shepard especially for this collab.

And thanks to ~Ceolmhar for the ribbon design on the banner.

I certainly was not expecting this many contributions! It's great to see that so many fans support curing Thane, and a shout out to those who supported us, even though they couldn't contribute.

This is for you, Bioware. I hope you know how many of us want this, we don't want to see our favourite drell assassin dying in a hospital bed!

EDIT: Please, everyone is entitled to their opinions but keep relevant to the topic. This is about the art collaboration, not a debate on whether or not you think Thane should be cured.

That's incredible...amazing work!

I too hope that Thane is somehow cured in ME3, and that any possible death is not mandatory.

No offense to anyone who likes Thane. But curing him would be a massive cop.out. The fact that he was dying defined a major part of his character.

So no. I hope it doesn't happen.

Thane has so much more than his dying to define him. In fact I argue that it shouldn't have been there in the first place because most of his character is from his life experiences.

The only point for his dying plot wise is for the drama.

Wait did you look at that picture?   Have you seen the size of the "cure Thane" mob?!   I would start running!! :P

Every disease has a cure.  It was hinted at in ME2.  As Mass Effect is about choice I think its only appropriate Thane gets one!  If you dont want to opt for it thats fine.    But many certainly will do! :)

I don't think dying adds to a character. In fact, quite the opposite.

I see what you mean in the way that perhaps the fact he is dying may make his story more compelling for some but it doesn't make him any less of a character if he doesn't die from Kepral's, in my opinion.

I (and many others) am looking forward to seeing Bioware making the most of such a strong character.

You are entitled to your opinions but please, everyone, keep the drama to a minimum.

But letting him die before the start of ME3 would be a giant farce.

Letting him die during the course of ME3 would also be a giant farce, unless if it was a choice of course. That's what the people in the "Cure Thane" collaboration is asking for. A choice to cure him.

Thane dying is a major part of his story in ME2 sure, but it's not his character. There are no personality archtypes that go along the lines of Dying Man. Having someone dying is just a plot device, one that could lead or death or NOT lead to death.

What I'm hoping is that him dying won't be a major plot device in his story in ME3, since not only would the drama already lose its momentum by then, it would just plain suck having a major romanceable character die so miserably.

I agree that having him die off-screen or early in the game would be a rather cruel joke against the fans of the character.

But how is having him die during ME3 a farce?

Well, to be specific, having him die from organ failure in a hospital bed helplessly, without no choice to react from us, would be a complete and total farce.

A major romanceable character shouldn't have to be treated to such a miserable death. If Thane has to die in my opinion, than he has to either die in a meaningful way, or die kicking ass. It would not do his character justice to die in any other way that isn't spectacular.

He doesn't have to die in a hospital bed. He could, as you said. choose to go out in a blaze of glory instead of dieing a slow painfull death.

Because he is a great and popular character, that shouldn't be dying in the first place.

I love all the different styles of the Shepards in this collab. So much variety!

Lizardviking....imo, it's HOW he dies in ME3 that would be the farce.....it'd be a farce if Thane (and other Drell) are killed off from a bacterial infection - I mean, dying from a bacterial infection when being space dessicated like Shep isn't dead??? REALLY!!, that wasn't a farce????? .....He just needs a combination of meds to kill the bacterial "bugs" already in his body. Think of TB (mycobacterium tuberculosis). Which, by the way, I'd like to think Kepral Syndrome (KS) is compared to in the future MEverse. This means, there is a treatment for it!!! BW has written codex similarities with KS as with TB. TB is getting resistant to the drugs we have for it, in 2011, and treatment in this day and age is usually with 4 different meds, versus the two we used to use, as HUMANS have discovered. So, with what is available in the MEverse (2183), Mordin's brain, the Hanar's research, etc, etc, etc....CURE THANE already. Or, have him "go out inna blaze of glory". AND, imho, "I almost died Thane" would still be an interesting character, there are a ton of movies that focus on the same "what happens when I thought I was gonna die, but didn't" theme.

So, writing dialogue choices for Thane's cure would be "intriguing"..........

That's awesome, and I'm amazed at the talent here. Wish I could have contributed, but... It's the whole "drawing" thing.

lizzbee - I feel the same way. I'm a total Thaneiac, but can't draw at all. So, my support is writing posts on the Thane FanClub thread. AND, the talent is awesome, they persisted after 4 months, and the effort shows :-))

I am crawling out of NSAS and into the light of the main forum long enough to say that the collab looks great, and thank you, Hana, for organizing it!

We'd have had even more folks contribute, but 96 on such short notice is still impressive! :)
