As I plough through all the side quests in the game to get the "perfect save" for DA2...I encountered that one. I found them all (Thank you, quest markers) , except in Redcliffe. No quest marker, no drop. Deactivated Mods, cleaned out Override. Still no Quest Marker or drop. Is there ANY way to fix this? Maybe with the console? My guess is that it did not trigger properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably a stupid question . . . but just in case . . . you're not trying to find the Redcliffe one AFTER the Landsmeet are you? Because it's not there after the Landsmeet.
You've been around long enough I figure you know that - but I never assume.

No, still very pre-Landsmeet. Eamon is up and about, but I haven't even completed all the treaties yet.

This is a bug introduced by either the 1.03 or 1.04 updates. This bug does not occur on version 1.02a and there are no known workarounds. As many have stated, there is no good reason to run any version of the game beyond 1.02a if you are still playing the Origins campaign.
It is not true to say that this bug occurs after the Landsmeet has begun. I have just confirmed that a game affected by this bug after the Landsmeet has begun (under 1.04) can be corrected by loading the same save game under 1.02a and the Redcliffe dead drop appears as normal.

Well this is one thing I hate about Biowares. They can always make a good story line and a very nice looking game. Sadly gameplay is alway extremly buggy and they just do not care. It bet it because of EA owning them.

For me the barrel in Redcliff was invisible. Once I found and clicked on the barrel it appeared. I haven't yet checked to see if all the barrels are invisible in this quest. That'll be fun if they are.
The one in Redcliff Village is down in the dip where the blacksmith is located. Go up the central stairs toward Dwyn's house, but before passing through the passageway through-which you can see Dwyn's house you turn left. Follow this around to the left and the invisible barrel is up against the side of the house next to some other rubbish.

I play through Steam and it was on auto-update, so as my current game stands, there is no barrel. I haven't a clue how to go about reverting to a previous patch through Steam, so I don't think that workaround will work. Don't suppose someone with toolset know-how can create a quick-fix (if there is such a thing) or mod to insert a barrel if there isn't one?

Well, according to the wiki, you're stuck. I wonder if reloading a previous save will work? Edit: Or, yeah, a previous patch will work, but I personally don't feel like going to the trouble if it happens to me.
As for the barrel being merely invisble, that doesn't make any difference. Tab key, problem solved. But I get the feeling from both Persephone and the wiki that this is something worse. (I'm doing that quest now, hope I don't get that treatment.

Maybe if you have a pc probably. Not for a console.

I of course have it on pc. On STEAM, so i can't even downgrade the game (i did read that could fix the problem)
