I could play an archer in my first runthrough. I enjoyed it in Origins, I should enjoy it more in DA2. I am still wondering whether or not archers get finishing moves like everybody else in DA2. I would like archers to get finishing moves of some kind, although I am not sure how they would be implemented...<_<

Just do a scouting playthrough as a warrior so you know what decisions to make in subsequent playthroughs with the Hawkes you want to remember, that's what I did in DA:O (poor stupid Sigmund Cousland) and that's what I'm doing in DA2.
And on topic: You know my rogue will be rockin some variety of taut string used to propel a pointy stick based instrument with which to murder fools.

Archery sucks and mages sucks. Happiness is swinging around a giant ego-extension that's able to cut a horse in half with one blow.
So that's why there are no horses in Thedas. Maria got there first.

Archery was weak in Origins but in Awakening it was obscenely overpowered.
pretty much, it felt like i was back in MC having to feign death so much just from auto shot

Why would you need to feign death when you can do up to 900 damage per shot with just the auto attack. I doubt anything can survive that short of bosses unless you install tons of rebalance mod to up the difficulty.

It's where the bowstring should be. It's just on a perma-infiltrator cloak mode...

I found myself many times having to take control of an archer companion to pull them back, whats the best way to take down a poiseness spider?, well according to my archer companion it's stand close enough for them to sink their fangs in, instead of "oh wait, I'm using a bow, I can stand over here at a relative safe distance"commanderVal wrote...
*This* is the one thing that made me go WTF? I'd be moving away to fire my arrows while leliana would be firing at point blank range. My warden would drop her weapons and go *facepalm*

Try placing an arrow on an invisible bowstring, it's like asking me to find a needle in a haystack.
Except the needle is invisible and haystack is on fire and will most likely kill me if I can't find the needle fast enough.

Well if you're using advanced tactic there's a way to get around that, otherwise the Range behavior in Vanilla game is pretty bad in that regard.
1-> Self: Not being attacked by melee attack -> Go to 5
2-> Self: Being attacked by melee attack -> distraction
3-> Self: Being attacked by melee attack -> pinning shot
4-> Target: Inmobilize -> Change preset Cautious
5-> Target: At Range Short to Medium Range -> Change preset Ranged
Basically if your archer is beeing attacked it uses distraction (if
bard), if it continues (the same or other enemy) it uses pinning shot
that will immobilize that enemy then it changes to Cautious
so he/she will move away from the melee attacker and then change back
to ranged. It is checked if the enemy is immobilized so you wont ran
away if the enemy can still follow you.

I'm hoping archery is improved this time. Some of the skills in Awakening were good (Rain of Arrows!) and Scattershot, but some were just pointless. Also, some varied animations for firing the bow. Aside from Rain of Arrows, they all looked the same. It'd be bad if all the other weapon types had a snazzier style but archer was still same old, same old.

I will if the actually support archery this time. In Origins it seemed like archery was an afterthought. But considering my favorite ME class is infiltrator, you know I love to reign silent death upon my enemies.
I feel really sorry for you lol SILENTASSASSIN LOLOL i hope you arent older than 12
I'm sure he'll take that on board, Emissary of the Dark. Now stop trolling, and go eat your greens.
