I just read this, and its ridiculous, why does Bioware continue to ruin every game they make. They did it with Mass Effect, basically ignored everything good from the original.
Party members only have one clothing, which you can only upgrade... WTF it sucked in ME2 so why the hell would you do the same for dragon age?!?! Its always nice to see customisation go out the window.

I do think it's really annoying we can't change them, but on the plus side, at least some of them change outfits? Aveline we've seen pics with different outfits, and in the jumps over ten years some of them may change.

But I gotta admit, I'm hoping for the ability to change outfits back in the next game, I won't get much replay value out of a game where I'm sick of seeing everyone wearing the same thing all the time. It's one of the reasons I barely ever used Morrigan in Origins, at least untill I got some dlc robes so I could change her outfit.

Still, it could be worse, and while it's annoying, it's doesn't automatically mean the game will be bad.

Let's not take a leap here, I agree that keeping all the various RPG elements such as armor intact is preferable, but this is not exactly the same as ruining everything.

Even though in theory I might prefer the RPG-ish inventory and whatnot, I find Mass Effect 2 to somehow top the original, a different but somehow even better game.

Now, with Dragon Age I'll miss things like armor more though, since it's heart is more oldschool anyway. Game still looks great though.

Because BioWare hates role-playing. And games. And you.

There was nothing good about the inventory system in Mass Effect 1 and the combat sucked compared to ME 2.

No. Most party members have more than one set of armor/clothing.

Check the "what we know so far" stickied thread. There's the references.
And yes, companion customization is stat-based only this time. Armor changes when the plot, not the player, demands it, but you'll be able to attach enchantments to the armor. You can still choose weapons, belts, and miscellaneous for your companions.

I really liked the variety of armor in DA: O, its just a shame they took it out, Will be the same for Hawke as well, can't imagine we'll be able to change his/her armor as well

So wait, being able to put the same few generic reskinned armors on your companions was the only thing that made DAO good? It's ruined now because of that one thing?

You know. I'm a little bothered by this, but I don't see why people hate it so much. I think I'm just a conformist pig?

You come from a JRPG background. Looks are much more restricted on those. Since you're already accostumed, you don't see the loss the same way people who's been playing western RPGs mostly do.

Wonderful news, don't you all agree!

I mean I had such a painful time seeing which armor was better, this way i will not have to worry! Forget the usages for the armor sets, the time spent, giving rogues that are impossible to hit heavier armor than warriors to tank while the dps warriors go to work. We need to remove all these options to give the teamates upgrades on their armor a la Mass Effect 2!

I absolutely love the new ideas that Bioware is giving for the equiping of our party! (end sarcasm)

I don't know about you OP but I for one am glad that my companions are smart enough to dress themselves in DA2.

Honestly it's not a big deal as long as their individual clothing/armors actually look unique and interresting. It got a bit stale with DAO how every armor looked pretty much the same just with a different tint.

Hmm, that's true. I'm accostumed with only one outfit, specially if they're not *aham* pratical.

I'm a fan of what they are doing in DA2. You get companions to stay unique and interesting looking and not just stuck in bland armour/clothing that may not fit the character, ie; Morrigan wearing Circle robes. While still getting the ability to have the ability to choose the mechanical upgrades the NPCs get.

So we in my eyes get the best of both worlds, unique and character specific appearances + still getting to control the mechanical aspects.

Plus really most armour, especially if it isn't massive armour in DA:O almost all looked basically the same, and equally bland.

I'm gonna be honest, I was actually upset that only Morrigan had her own personal outfit. I often find myself hunting for mods so that I can give each character a "personal outfit". I find the personal outfit thing to be rather cool seeing as it looks pretty dumb when everyone's walkin' around in Drakeskin leathers.

So kudos to you Bioware.

It's a portmaneau of people and sheep, usually reffering to people who never raise a fuss and take everything without objection.
I guess it'd be "persovella" or "ovellersoa" in portuguese.

It's a portmanteau of sheep and people. It means you're a mindless follower of group mentality.

Oh, I see. Funny, Maria, becuase sheeple, in portuguese, is "Maria-vai-com-as-outras".
